Sterlo no eels man

A subject that has come up a few times over the years is Sterlo’s lack of putting back into the club.Firstly, Sterlo is the reason why I’m an eels fan. Growing up in Queensland in the early 80’s there were no Queensland sides in the then NSWRL, and we got to see one match of the day per week, and the eels were often match of the day in 81. Soo some age 9 I’ve supported the eels, even having never lived in Sydney, let alone Parramatta.It’s been a hard fucking road.I even met Sterlo once in Brisbane years ago and told him he was my childhood hero.But enough is a fuckin nuff when it comes to Sterlo being the wise old Buddha we turn to for his thoughts in the current teams. I just don’t think a few training sessions and pep talks over the years cuts it. Why didn’t he even take on a coaching position? He’s got the football brain for it. If he bled blue and gold wouldn’t he take a break from commentary from r a couple of years to help lift this side to great heights?Even he must know that just having his name on the game day team list as coach would lift the team enormously. I don’t see the team losing a game the whole season.But no, Sterlo rocks up year after year with Rabs for his expert armchair advice. How much dosh does he fuckin need? Channel9 have paid him a mint over the years. It’s too late now to do it. He should have done it fuckin years ago when Fatty won his first origin series as coach. “You gotta try this coaching thing Sterlo!” said Fats. Sterlo acted all coy and blushed as if to say “it’s comin Fatty” well it never fuckin did.And we still haven’t won shit since 86.Fuckin let down Sterlo. By all means continue to be an impartial ambassador for the game. But drop the “eels man” shit. You had the past 25 years to put in. And you didn’t. Thumbs down.

What a load of crap. Sterlo was a great player is in my opinion a great commentator he doesn't have to give anything to the club. Why be let down by him and not the other former players who have leached onto this club as if it was their right to a job or position on the board, sterlo made a career for himself within the game without having to leach on to past glory.

We are a joke of a club and weither or not sterlo was a coach ambassador etc we still would be because we have been poorly run and have fostered a culture of accepting mediocrity

As one of the few former players with footy mind and knowledge he has stayed away from the club which has been a smart move.
He can't be blamed seeing the hatred and mud raked up by various sanctions over the years. When was the parra last old boys days with all players similar to knights who have over 90% win record on old boys day.
Our club doesn't have heritage of siide with less then third of our history, despite our 80's dominance, as various factions have ripped our heritage and put it to the side as they fought their petty arguments to gain control and recognition behind their playing years.

So on the flip side the club was not loyal to Pricey and Bert as they wanted to help but was pushed to the curb by the club in regards to coaching. This really is a silly post.

He took up a career that still places food on the table today, your argument full of s&%t. He owe nothing to the club, he tried like a lot of past champions but the club will toss you like a dirty rag when they see fit. Look at Brett Kenny won a comp with Penrith, had his hart set on coaching and nothing, so don't be naive to think the club looks after you. He made a great career choice, his passion wasn't to coach, good luck to him.
