Kearney's Recruitment Strategy

I'm only pointing out the obvious, but there seems to be a trend in the way we have been signing players recently.

It appears our recruitment team of Kearney & Nolan have a strategy in place to make sure they aquire the targets they are after: Sign the younger sibling first in the hope that it might just be the defining reason a player accepts our offer and not anyone elses.

Think about it... if two teams are after your signature, wouldn't you be more likely to want to play for the side your brother plays for? I know I would, my brother and I have played league all our lives but never in the same side. I would have loved to line up next to him if I had the chance.

We sign Esi Tonga... Willie Tonga follows.

We sign Jamil Hopoate... William Hopoate follows.

We have also recently signed Joey Lussick while being linked to Darcy, and Warner Taumalolo while being linked to Jason.

Is it co-incidence? Or are they activley seeking out the siblings of signing targets to be one step ahead of the game?

  • We signed Will before we signed Jamil. I heard that we signed Will in March and Jamil followed

    • So we got to Will to get to Jamil. This kid must be better than we think. The plot thickens...

  • Korbin too if it will get Tariq haha

  • Korbin, not Corgan lol... third brother who plays for the Knights I believe.

    • In order, I rate the Sims brothers: Tariq, Korbin, Ashton.

Realistically, although I doubt that he would be pried away from the NQ Cowboys, Tariq would be the one to talk to and get to join the club.

  • Very interesting Dan.  I think there is more logic to this than most people realise.

  • I think you're pretty right. From my conversation with Nolan, they're is an awareness of how much players value family and an effort to be very involved with the player's families. You can also throw the Folau brothers in with your theory.

    • I knew there was one I was forgetting. Makes a whole lot of sense.

  • Nirvana actually.

  • Any evidence of anything similar happen over the years at the Broncos (Nolan) or Storm (SK)?
