Will Moses be in Origin 2 & Should He?

Just wondering what other Eels fans are thinking about Mitchell Moses possibly being selected by Coach Daley for Origin 2. I personally don't think he should be selected because of his injuries and also his form this year hasn't been the greatest.

I think it's more important he gets himself 100% fit and spends more time on the field for Parra the Origin. It seems everytime he plays in Origin he either picks up some injury or aggravates current injuries that sidelines him for Parra matches.

What do others on here think?

      • Parra G, did I state any happiness about Moses' injuries in and around Origin season? No, I didn't. Instead, my point remains: we can be very unhappy about injuries, but to extend out to Rep selection being problematic simply opens up a series of incoherences in the broader recruitment and retention discussions on the site.

Consider, for instance, the fair point that without Rep stars the Eels might struggle to attract Rep stars. We address that by calling for our biggest Rep star to withdraw from Origin contention?

Maybe we can switch the question around, from whether Moses should skip Origin to give 100% to the Eels, to whether the Eels are giving Moses 100%? Are we forcing Moses to overplay, not his hands, but his lower body? Constant leg issues and yet Moses is regularly forced to kick the skin off the ball?

I'll be explicit: Moses getting injured sucks, but having a #7 constantly getting selected at Rep level is a bonus the Eels should not want to give up.

  • NO.If he doesnt play on Monday then he doesnt play origin.  How can our club be happy that he is focusing on his fitness for Origin.  Further if he is then out after Origin then that stinks and poor poor form from Moses.

    • If medical team fail him, then pass him for Origin not much we can do. NSW would have their own doctors to test him out. If Moses chooses to play our hands are tied.

Many say "Just tell him he is not playing". We can do that but he has every right to tell us to get lost and play.

Let's be fair, many of us here if we had the chance to make $30k playing for NSW, regardless of our prep we are playing, let's not kid ourselves.

I don't want him playing but i see it as not much we can do.

    • Maybe representative honours substitute for club limitations.  Block one, and the other may topple. Just a thought.

  • Will he be picked? Yes.

Should he be picked? Yes he is one of the best halves in comp so it makes sesne, with some doubt over the preparation for him missing 3 weeks.

Do i want him picked? No.

    • Bingo! Spot on LB.

If he's fit he'll be picked and he absolutely deserves to be.

Like every single club we want our best players playing for us week in week out still. I'm thrilled for Moses when he's picked, and sad for our team. 😁

      • Agreed with LB and Captain. Ideally the team doesn't fall are when our best player is selected for rep games, and ideally not is he injured.

I am reminded of every footy head on the footy talk shows who talk about players that govt their team-mates confidence. I am sure that process is enabled by those players being rep players and having that stature and confidence. Wanting to drag Moses out of that rep environment might simply be "own goal thinking", where we take the only player at the club who has that stature and confidence and we demand he think smaller

    • 100%. Putting my Parra hat on I don't want him picked. Putting my NSW hat on it's an easy pick for me. If he's fit, he's the man for the job

      • I mean hopefully he comes back against Souths, with the week off mind you, and is more confident.
