Just wondering what other Eels fans are thinking about Mitchell Moses possibly being selected by Coach Daley for Origin 2. I personally don't think he should be selected because of his injuries and also his form this year hasn't been the greatest.
I think it's more important he gets himself 100% fit and spends more time on the field for Parra the Origin. It seems everytime he plays in Origin he either picks up some injury or aggravates current injuries that sidelines him for Parra matches.
What do others on here think?

None of us think he should be selected
Why play for parra when they've done nothing for him the past 3 years, he's been wanting a competitive side not a side of waiting to see who breaks through. Man I thought people would have figured it out by now. Poor bloke plays better than anyone but because we have a crop that don't see the game as fast he does he has to play to the level of them hence why he's game at parra sucks as of late.
Your comment, 'he's been wanting a competitive side' got me thinking. A competitive side revolves around quality players throughout the squad. Many quality players join strong clubs on less money than they could earn elsewhere hoping they can win a premiership. However, Moses is being paid top dollar and has been on big money throughout his time with the Eels. If success was so important to Moses, he could take a little less leaving more money available to attract better players. If you can get your 5 highest paid players to sign for 10% less than their worth that would give you the best part of $500,000 to spend elsewhere. That could be the difference between challenging for a top 4 spot and battling to make the top 8.
Why would Moses take a pay cut when he's and Australian, NSW rep player. He's not greedy, look at knights they have so many on Moses salary yet we suffer because maybe we have a shit front office that has no clue how to demand, spend or move players around from cup to first grade. Telling our best player to take a cut you are joking me, he's played his best ever since he came to the club. Now he looks fatigue because he's playing with the lowest football iq players in the game right now some of these boys wouldn't even make the dragons squad.
I'm not saying that Moses should take a pay cut. All I'm saying is that if playing in a competitive side is so important to Moses, negotiating for every last dollar does nothing but make the overall roster weaker. Some players are willing to take a little less if it will increase their chances of success. Unfortunately, not only Moses, but everyone at Parramatta with a contract higher than $500,000 per season is getting above their worth. Other than Moses, I can't think of a single Eels player that one of the better clubs would want. The reported $1,300,000 per season for Moses is the same amount that Cleary is earning and he is a 4 time premiership winning half-back. Junior Paulo is reportedly on $975,000 per season, that would make him clearly the second highest paid player if he was at Penrith. That means Junior is being paid $125,000 more than the Panthers and NSW captain, Isaah Yeo. Then you have Ryan Matterson apparently on $700,000. If Matterson is or ever was a $700,000 per season player I must have missed something. Right now, Junior is worth about half his salary and Matterson is worth nothing. So that's close to $1,500,000 per season in overs just from those 2. In my opinion, Moses is getting $200,000 to $300,000 overs also.
According to the site's Recruitment & Retention Experts, if the club is not actively aiming to sign representative-level players, and doing so successfully more than unsuccessfully, sack the entire R&R Team.
In other news, the Parramatta Eels halfback has been killing it at a origin level, was taken away on the kangaroo tour as backup halfback, but on the site it's a negative that he is constantly in the frame for rep honours.
No amount of "sh*t it's unfortunate he is injury prone the past few years" can undo the crazy incoherence of those two positions.
So I gather you are happy with his injuries post Origin on every occasion he has played. Yes granted rep level honours is important for a player and for his NRL clubs squad development too. However at 32 years of age and his inability to play a consistent number of games for Parramatta these last three years is OK with you ?. What tangable positives has Parramatta got for his Origin experiences ?
Recruitment help well No Lomax left. Bringing extra skills back to help the team at an NRL level ?
the jury is out... there is no negatives with Rep honours if that translates to his NRL team ....what has the team got out of it ....20 games from Mitch in the last 3 years
Well said and it's evident that Moses tends to return from Origin duties either with a new injury or exasperating previous injuries which sees him miss lots of club games and as the club doesn't really have great back up utility players it definitely affects the Eels games. I mean why are players recruited for Parra? Is it to improve the Eels potential to break a 40 year premiership drought or to get them into Origin Selection?
The shed construction is beginning to speed up. Through weather and the visctitutudes of life it's progress was slow, but with the ground now levelled , and the frame timber base prepared. l am excited to report its coming together nicely It is to become the family repository of those things which hold no meaning, of dubvious utility, but for reasons I cannot explain remain part of the family must keep collection. I have also commandeered a big drum which I have inserted into the ground. Is is a beauty, holds lots of timber, and the heat! Well, 2 days post burn it was still.smoldering. 2 wins in 2 weeks, life is good!
Parra G, did I state any happiness about Moses' injuries in and around Origin season? No, I didn't. Instead, my point remains: we can be very unhappy about injuries, but to extend out to Rep selection being problematic simply opens up a series of incoherences in the broader recruitment and retention discussions on the site.
Consider, for instance, the fair point that without Rep stars the Eels might struggle to attract Rep stars. We address that by calling for our biggest Rep star to withdraw from Origin contention?
Maybe we can switch the question around, from whether Moses should skip Origin to give 100% to the Eels, to whether the Eels are giving Moses 100%? Are we forcing Moses to overplay, not his hands, but his lower body? Constant leg issues and yet Moses is regularly forced to kick the skin off the ball?
I'll be explicit: Moses getting injured sucks, but having a #7 constantly getting selected at Rep level is a bonus the Eels should not want to give up.
