Suspended Eels star Michael Jennings has broken his silence on the positive drug test that has his rugby league career hanging in the balance.

Jennings was ruled out of the Eels’ semi-final against the Rabbitohs after being hit with a provisional suspension under the NRL’s anti-doping policy.

“Michael Jennings speaks for first time as he vows to clear his name: “I am totally against any form of cheating in sport and am completely shocked to find myself in this position,” Brent Read tweeted.

“I will do everything I can to clear my name.”

  • I hope so MJ . Good luck hopefully boys use it as motivation if it is incorrect

    • I sorry this has happened.for him his family and the club . But his response is the standard response that 99.9 percent of people that are in this predicament give .

      • Yea, obviously no one would want to admit it. Its going to be very hard to proove his innocence espically with these bubble restrictions. I don't know of any athlete that has succesfully given a reason to why the drug accidentaly entered their body. But I really do hope so that Jenko is innocent.

  • I've got a really really bad feeling about this 1

  • I really hope so for Jenko. He always posts on insta about his son. It really seemed Jenko was in a really good place in life after year we got the wooden spoon. He has achieved so much in his career and I don't want him to be known as a drug cheater.

  • Parramatta Eels centre Michael Jennings has released the following statement.
    ___
“I am totally against any form of cheating in sport and am completely shocked to find myself in this position. I will do everything I can to clear my name,” Jennings said in the statement released by the Eels prior to the match.
    ___
“I have dedicated the last 14 years of my life to playing in the NRL. I would never do anything to jeopardise my standards, my reputation, or the legacy I leave, especially for my son.”
    ___
“I am completely shattered that I won’t be able to play with my team tonight. We have worked so hard to get where we are.
    ___
“I have every faith in the boys and wish them the best.
    ___
“This is a really difficult time for me and my family, but I will work with Sports Integrity Australia to progress this case and clear my name.”
    ___
I'd like to wish Michael all the very best with the upcoming process.

    • I agree with him. He is 32 now. If he was to drug cheat, surely he would of done it earlier in his career rather the end. He has achieved many things in the NRL and there was really nothing for him to proove. So why would he take PED's when he can simply end his career with such a good reputation. Unlike, Xerri who is new and apparently been cheating for a while. So for Jenko sake, best of luck and hope he clears his name.

  • Yawn, typical response from someone caught using PED's. You are an professional sports person. If you unknowingly took supplements containing banned substances it's all on you.

    • HKF there's also the possibility although slim that someone purposely set him up.  Its happened before

      • even if set up he is still stuffed

-unless the person who spike him admits it
