Why doubt Ryles ?

Lot of fans are upset with the one year Pezet deal, and I understand that. But let's look at the calls Ryles has made since joining the club.

Gutho and RCG getting moved on immediately got some backlash as well, big call but Ryles was correct. Lot of people didn't like this at the time.

Brought in his own group of players that fit the system he wants to play, might not be big names but they fit the style. Jack Williams Dylan Walker types.

Sean Russell the most hated eel on the roster. Ryles has given him the confidence to be a starter. He's taken that and run with it.

Give this loan with Pezet thing a chance and let's see what else happens around that before throwing all the toys out of the cot.

        • HOE I said I reckon he can get out of the negative noise but let's be fair he's had a good start with fans, if this backfires he will lose them quick.

As for Joash, if Pezet starting I doubt Joash plays 6 in Cup. If he ain't playing 6 how's he developing? I reckon Lorenzo will be the 6 in Cup now.

          Could be wrong though.

          • If we had finished the season the same way we started it getting beat by 50 I'd agree with you guys and there would be no point in bringing in a Pezet to help Moses. But they took it to teams like Brisbane roosters warriors and showed that they can win right now. I think that shifted Ryles thinking, from let's develop Joash at 6 to let's bring someone in to help Moses immediately even if it is a one year thing

          • LB, It is what it is. Fans will turn. And quicker than Melbourne weather. Look at how quickly the knives came out for Ryles personally (he's a liar etc) and the club due to the alleged Pezet one-year deal before it's even happened. Ryles and the club just need to keep going regardless. Some fans will stick, others will throw poo and boo.

    • Spot on, Acme.

  • in 2021 panfers signed TPJ on a 4 month deal ( it was mid season) .

he also announced  the SAME DAY he was signing with the dogs from the following year on a 3 year deal.

why is this pezet deal so different?

tPJ did help them make the GF but wasn't named to play

    • Fair question, but TPJ was a very experienced impact forward, the Panthers brought him in as they had injuries at the position. TPJ's job was to run through brick walls in a very established team, with an elite spine & set up.

The Eels are bringing a rookie 5/8th, a rookie 5/8th who is really a halfback, into a very inexperienced spine for one season, to replace our young fullback who was playing 5/8th, becasue we lost our 10-year signed 5/8th, who was moved to centre, after being dropped as his future was at another club - as is the future of our new inexperienced 5/8th (who is a halfback).

      • Well explained NOS....its been a strange orf seezun my friend......never seen one like this?

LOL I have been as anti this as anyone but I have no doubt I will be defending Ryles when the "haters" make their big moves......that said I don't deny I am probably on the same side of the fence as them....but I am not looking to sack anyone in response, just disappointed that our leadership did not recognise the potential damage done/being done.

        • Hey Pops!

How have you been & how is Karen?

Haha just another off-season as an Eels fan.

100% with you, love Ryles, but it's disappointing.

        • Pops, Once the club starts making decisions based on fan noise, it’s game over. We’d have a new coach every Monday. A different CEO by Friday. The GM fired at halftime. Even the janitor would hand in his mop before kickoff. Prediction: Deregistered in 12 months, leagues club sold to a kebab shop.

          • If you ignore fan noise completely, they may just go quiet. That's worse
