The mistake they made was hiring Meninga as opposed to hiring someone like BA or Holbrook. Here me out, Perth needed a coach that could handle the media and pressure of a new franchise. Be able to find diamonds in the rough and producing a somewhat competitive.

Instead they chose Meninga to appease the anti Rugby League media in Perth, feeling a figure like Meninga will win them over. Issue is i believe majority of the Perth media wouldn't know Meninga from a bar of soap. So they will just see him trying hard to win them over and see him as a flog.

Another issue is many in the game believe Meninga to be this almighty figure that everyone, fans alike, bow to. He was a wonderful player and have no issues with him being an immortal but man as a media person he is dreadful and hanged onto the coat tails of that dreamteam Queensland team with a spine including the best Fullback of all time, the best Hooker of all time, one of the best Halves of all time and one of the best Halfbacks of all time and one of the best athletes at Centre; Slater, Smith, Thurston, Cronk and Inglis. Stevie Wonder could coach them to victory.

Based on what we are now hearing about R360, the answer is Zac Lomax... on less money for an additional year haha
