We had the most income through our leagues club and most gate receipts having the most and loyalist fans. Biggest club in Australian RL.
I was reading somewhere that Parra fans leaving Parramatta buses would create a massive convey driving to Manly and end up taking 35%- 40% of the tickets at Brookvale. With the SHB being the only bridge at the time, it could take 2 hours+ to get to Manly.
I'm curious where we stand today.
P.S Although Newton were to make the 1981 GF they were in huge finacial trouble in 1980. That was a lot of money to be losing back then. Don't know why they lost half their league club grant from '79 to '90. Having the least fans in the comp didn't help either. I'm also surpised at Souths having less ticket sales than most club since they have massive fan base these days with mininal success.

Interesting piece this.
I would love to see what todays figures would look like and how the club has grown in comparison to other clubs.
Well last i heard a few years ago, Parra Leagues from their pokies turn over $80 mil a year. That could be even more now since the new stadium and more fans going to games.
But we have always had a great fan base. In 2012-2013, back to back wooden spoons you still saw a lot of Parramatta fans out and about, even in my area which is Wests Tigers area. Souths you hardly saw until Madge came in, Penrith you never saw until last few years. I would say the only teams i see a lot of every year no matter what is Parramatta, Canterbury and Wests (due to the area).
I don't know about now since the new stadium was built but before it game days would see a big drop in poker machine revenue as the usual players would stay away.
Most times when i am at the Leagues club before and after a game it is packed around the pokies. I guess it also depends on who we are versing.
Depends what the now paltry $1M relates to, but Panthers Group would be the biggest club from what I know.
If it's crowd figures then it's skewed towards Broncos (& now Dolphins) due to Magic Round being at their home ground.
If it's revenue/profit for the actual club site then you'd need to look at the individual financial statements.
If it's solely football revenue v costs then not many NRL entities are making any money at all.
If it's brand value then I think we are in the top ten across all codes in Australia (or close). Hell we are in the news every other day for something.
Panthers Leagues Club is the biggest in the NRL i believe, it is a great Leagues club.
Wish Parra Leagues got the upgrade that was intended, the plans were for it to be bigger. It is good as it is too though.
Roosters Net Asset Position 2 years ago was $140m
We would've lost a heap of revenue when Roy Spagnolo sold off all of our property investments to make his bottom line look good. I remember so many Roy cheer boys spruiking about his wonderful business talents becasue he managed to sell millions worth of properties off to his freinds and family on the cheap and throw the numbers onto his yearly profits.
You couldn't as much as say Roy had an un-ironed shirt on League Unlimited , without that dwarf looking no necked Stagger Eel or his cronies banning you from the site. Was funny times. Wonder how many would admit to it now ? There were plenty of those clowns here too hiding under different names..
Whats amazing is the player payments.
Our total payments back then would just cover Paulo's payment alone and the total for the whole comp in 1980 (5.3m) was less then half a teams salary cap for 2023 (12.1m)
This explains why we had our moment of dominance forty years ago, and why other clubs are dominant now. We aren't a poor club but we aren't close to as rich as the Roosters, Storm, Panthers, Broncos and Souths. The biggest mystery is why the Broncos were so bad for so long.
