What would you do differently if you were David Gallop or the Parramatta Board. Here are the controversies or issues that I would address (Feel free to add your own):
1. Melbourne Storm Salary Cap
2. Brett Stewart Sexual Assault Case
3. Paul Osborne Saga
4. Todd Carney's Drinking Problems
1. The NRL fined them $1.6 million dollars which I believe was fair, they also deducted all premiership points for the 2010 season and prevented them from accruing points for that season, again I believe it was fair. However, I believe that they should've had a closer investigation into the players who were involved. The Storm did this to themselves, there was no need for their supporters to react against Gallop the way they did, they should've booed their team.Greg Inglis, Billy Slater and Cameron (and a 4th unnamed player) had letters, addressed to them from the club, in Brian Waldon's possession. Surely the players who signed 2 contracts and woke up 1 morning with a new boat or car in their drive way must have known something, but we've been through that. If the players investigated were found guilty they should be suspended for an entire season.
2. I believed the NRL handled this quite well. Stewart was suspended for bringing the game into disrepute, not sexually assaulting a female. He was drunk and put himself in that situation. Stewart and his brother acted like cry babies and are jokers for asking for an apology.
3. From what I understand, the Board did an internal investigation and cleared Osborne. I would've conducted an external investigation to prevent any accusations of bias. Other than that I believe the Board did a decent job.
4. Now to the ongoing issue of Todd Carney. I don't mind him being given a final chance in the NRL but I want it to be his FINAL CHANCE. If I was Gallop I would've warned him that one more issue and he could kiss his contract goodbye. He has brought the game into disrepute more times in a year than most players will in their whole career. As well as that I would also offer him rehabilitation services because he is a confessed alcoholic.
I would like to hear your comments.

From a David Gallop perspective, I personally believe that he handled all three of the above indiscretions, incredibly well.
On Carney in particular, he knows it is his last chance, and he has spoken with Gallop several times since that last incident, and their initial verbal contract has been amended.
He puts one toe out of line, and Carney's out of the game for good.
Bye bye Todd Carney then
1.Melbourne should have been kicked out of the comp. This is my point mainly due to being biased towards Parra, but in all honesty I think the situation was handled very well but what has proceeded has not been handled all too well be Gallop or the Storm.
2. Once again, Gallop and the NRL did what they needed to with this situation but what has proceeded has been a lot worse.
3. It was more the media that blew this up. I think an external investigation would have been more appropriate.
4.Could it be a case of Carney receiving too much money and not knowing what to do with it? I think in Carney's situation a lot of responsibility falls on the player's club to deal with the situation. Same thing goes with the Stewert situation if the NRL does not believe enough has been done to apprehend these players they should step in and take further action
Actually I think Bellamy should've been fined for saying the Storm were the rightful premiers. He's basically spitting in the face of the NRL by saying that. He's removing himself and the club from all responsiblity and blaming it on the NRL.
Oh no but his team worked so hard you can't take away those premierships from them. They should have worked harder and shredded those documents
Really thoughtful analysis
I agree 100 % re the lack of focus applied to the Storm players during the salary cap saga. I recall on the Back Page Fox some months ago Paul Kent made a comment that as a gesture of goodwill the NRL did not pursue the individual players after the penalty was applied to the club. Kent stated that this was a significant error of judgement as the coach and players were quoted later in the season this year - when they thought they were in pole position to win the comp - that in their minds they were the legitimate winners in 06 and 09 and as such there was a real lack of remorse.
I believe that if they highlighted which players - such as Smith, Slater and Inglis - had signed dual contracts it would have rammed home the immense nature of the breach and humbled these individual grubs sufficiently so as to prevent stupid comments that they were legitimate winners.
Having said all that it is still comforting that they have not won a comp since 99 and after the Warriors accounted for them this year they have no claims on anything
He was pissed and rarely does anything good happen when you're drunk and can barely remember anything. If he hadn't have been drunk I'm confident he wouldn't have gotten mixed up in what happened.
Players should be able to drink whenever they like, the girl only approached him because he is famous, if he wasn't famous he would have been able to stumble home. But he should know this as a person that is well known he always has to be watching out for potential people that can harm him.
I think you said it better than I could and Mack, I'm 16, I prefer to preserve my brain cells unlike you who appears to be on their last couple.
You don't get it do you? You're entirely entitled to your opinion however your sentence So "some dumb chick tries to take advantage of a guy and that's his fault cause he was pissed and he should have known better?" lacks conviction and evidence. I didn't say it was entirely his fault. I meant that if he wasn't drunk the likelihood is that the entire scenario wouldn't have eventuated.
