He has definitely battled with injury which has affected his speed this year but this should improve hopefully if he stays fit.
His ability to engage defenders has been part of the reason why Semi has scored so many tries. I think we can only expect better things next year from him at centre.
If you have the luxury of playing him off the bench that is where you will get the best overall value out of him but I think it is more than a tad unfair to suggest he has no right to be a starting centre.
Justin O'Neill, Kane Linnett, Bryson Goodwin, Jack Reed, Tim Lafai, Kurt Mann, Gerard Beale and Ricky Leutele are all first choice centres in clubs currently considered well better than the Eels and none of them are walk up starts over Takairangi (in my opinion at least).
Takairangi has his flaws but I think he brings enough to the table to warrant his rating as a first choice centre. What I think compels a lot of people to look down on Takairangi as a centre is the fact that we don't have a marquee centre on the right edge so Taka gets billing as our #1 centre.
"We can't send Lomax anywhere he has to want to go on his own volition.

"I think Braith respects Ryles as a coach and what he's doing at Parra and obviously believes Lomax did the wrong thing, listened to poor advice and brought this all upon himself and did the wrong thing to Parra"

14 is his best spot, can cover row centres,lock,2nd row and 5/8 if needed. Talented utility but no way should he be a starting centre.

By himself he's a forward. In our team he's a centre because he's able to provide good delivery for Semi.
If we had 2 first grade quality centres he would be an awesome utility.
Can one have a rampaging semi?
