I will give credit to Ryles he got them up. Newcastle were full strength and we had both captains out and more and they won it with a minute left.
Errors not acceptable but Ryles had them up and played to their strengths in certain areas. Plus didn't mind going with Mataele over Guymer for size. Bench was more balanced.
How about support players drop back a bit, Russell was ordinary today. Only lost by 6 againstfull strength Knights and Ponga shouldn't have played. With all the BS about protecting the head they let that BS on Wednesday get by with a fine
I was listening to a few podcasts during the week. Apparently now they don't get suspended out of origin because all the clubs complained that they were losing there stars out of a game that is for the nrl showcase. Why should the clubs suffer who pay the majority of their wages and lose their players due to really an exhibition game. We all love origin but it is fair but I believe it should be treated like soccer if you get a red card in a cup game you miss the next cup game not regular season, Ponga should be suspended for game 2 plus a fine.
It was a good performance but honestly if we had Pezet instead of Volkman or even Joash, let alone Moses, let alone both out there, And the others perform similarly, I think we win even convincingly.
I think Iongi after some more match fitness would've prevented one of the tries he was skinned for.
This is really a well oiled team and you can see the effort put in its coaching we really need our spine to be sharp always and the forwards/backs not to drop the ball. That alone would make us win most games honsetly.
There's no control no leadership and in game we don't have the experience without Moses to change.
Look at the spine TDS rocks or diamonds Joash who isn't a 6 he's a all in ball runner Volkman again lacks experience to run a team and Iongi who looked under done coming back off a long break.
This team basically is Moses or bust there is nothing else.
I'm not seeing any great gains in our younger players and I had a good look at Sam tonight and left highly under whelmed. His work at marker was lazy and he wasn't really winning any contact battles.
Same with Gideon he's an athlete for sure and he's giving it his all but these errors are just out of hand.
TDS it's rocks or diamonds there just doesn't seem to be any middle ground again inexperience with him and around him.
Without Junior in the middle we look very vulnerable.
I want to say we are improving and while the effort is there it's not adding upto anything.
Ive reached a stage where I have zero expectation for this team because we are just miles off the pace.
I guess the only positive I can take and it's a negative really in all this losing your hoping blooding of these 1st and 2nd year players is going to help us down the road as if it isn't then we are really screwed.
Almost felt listening to the commentary they finally realise how many players we do have out and we got the mercy vote being brave tonight listening to them.
Happy with the effort and fight put in by the team. We have mostly 2nd graders but they tried their best throughout the game. If not for the basic errors just like Joash forward pass, we could have pull out an upset win. Kudos to the plYers and coaching staff. People were expecting it would be a bloodbath of a score.
Looking at the replay, I agree with other, there was no need for Russell to be so flat. He could have been 3m behind and still scored. Joash has thrown a few forward in 26 also
"Listening to Ryles' presser, he talked about the Hooking position. He mentioned Edwards was brought to the club as he can play dummy half as well as in the middle. But he also said Edwards allows Hookers to develop and play more mins in cup. So does…"
"I'm proud of the effort, not proud of the basics that we get wrong every week
and I hate how we push passes on 1st and 2nd tackle, that Williams attempted offload when we where in the red zone on 2nd tackle killed me"
"100% correct. The roster isn't good enough and they know it. Furthermore there's not a damn thing they can do about it. They can not close the deal. They need a deal marker. One would think ryles would have contacts in union to find some outside…"

What about rusty try? Was he offside? Looked marginal on the box

I thought apart from one ball handling error, Kitione was great.
Tuivati and Iongi underdone but they'll be great.
