With both sides unable to reach the top four and the semi-final play-offs this was a dead rubber at the Halliwell Jones stadium but the Wolves emerged worthy winners, running in nine tries.
Penny was in excellent form for the Wolves as he claimed his three tries, played key roles in two others for Gary Wheeler and Ben Currie and was also try saver, pulling off a key tackle and interception to deny Hull scores in the first half.
Wheeler and Joel Monaghan also claimed two tries for the home side with the other coming from Ryan Atkins, while Chris Sandow landed five goals.
The scoreline was a little harsh on Hull's efforts for whom Mark Minichello claimed two tries and Dean Hadley also touched down with Marc Sneyd landing two conversions.
Warrington were ahead after five minutes when a superb pass by Chris Hill sent Stefan Ratchford racing clear and Penny was in support to claim his first try of the afternoon which Sandow converted.
Hull hit back and were on level terms when a superb ball from Joe Westerman, who limped from the action shortly after, sent Hadley crashing over from close range and Sneyd converted.
The visitors were getting on top at this stage but the game suddenly turned Warrington's way with three tries in a stunning six-minute spell.
Hull looked scorers at one end but Monaghan somehow managed to get fingertips to Jamie Shaul's pass and in an instant the Wolves were at the other end.
From that position the Wolves took full advantage with some slick passing along the line allowing Wheeler to score in the corner to which Sandow added a superb touchline conversion.
Two minutes later the home side had scored again when Sandow's kick was palmed back by the impressive Penny into the grateful hands of Currie to score and Sandow's maintained his 100 per cent record with the boot to make it 18-6.
And it got even better for the Wolves when a superb Sandow pass created the space for Penny to claim his second with another spectacular dive to touch down in the corner.
At the end of the half Penny then turned try-saver as he made a last-gasp tackle to deny Curtis Naughton following a superb Jordan Rankin break and then leapt high to intercept Snyed's pass to deny the visitors another try and leave the Wolves 22-6 in front at half time.
Penny claimed his hat-trick nine minutes after the restart when he followed Currie's break and then held off the despairing tackles of Shaul and Norton to just reach the line and score. Sandow goaled to make it 28-6.
The Wolves were now in confident mood and ran in three further tries in another impressive seven-minute spell with Atkins, Wheeler with his second and Monaghan all touching down to stretch the lead to 42-6.
There was some respite for Hull when the hard-working Minichello crossed for two tries in quick succession late in the game and Sneyd kicked a further conversion to bring a little more respectability to the scoreline.
But Warrington had the last word when in the final play of the game Monaghan claimed his second try in the corner to complete a comprehensive win.

On Chris Sandow, people are very quiet on the fact that since he left we have won two games--the Darwin game and the Manly game--both terrible games that we should have lost. Can anyone tell me how many games we lost since the exit of CS? What ever the total of lost games is, it is more than the two `wins`. So the assassination of CS can be deemed a failure.Lost about 40% of our attack when we did not have a replacement half available! Hope Chris can make a go of it over there--its a tough assignment for him.
We were heaps better without Sandow. The only time we got flogged was against the Cowboys in Townsville.
Looks like the Hull coach Steve Bruce didn't do his home work.
Maybe he thought that Chrissy was still missing in action.
All they had to do was run at Chrissy and the scores would have been reversed.
Its amazing how good Chrissy looks against Crap Teams.
I remember when Chrissy played for Souths and against Crappamatta he averaged 5.2 points a game.
And most of these games he wasn't a goal kicker.
Chrissy always look good when there was no pressure.............
Nicely said mate. We knew we signed an off the cuff player and then lamented that he wasn't an organiser. Hopefully his new team accept for what he is.
Im happy for Chris.
