Saw this with the Lakers and many of the issues they have are very similar to what Parra are dealing with.

Man U much the same until the above mentioned is executed and you have the best in place off the park then we'll start to see real tangible results on it.

Alot has been put on JRs plate which just isn't realistic without the correct supporting people and a plan in place behind him.This is so key.

Back to the Lakers and there new owner he's all about spending money in the key spots especially infrastructure which is key for onfield success.

Theres lessons to be learned here.

        • Thank fark Frankie especially doesn't rate our guys at the top over the years he's anti Parra board 101 on here.

          Me I just watch so many pro sports in depth and like you mention the coach and playing group are at the near the end of the chain  when it comes to winning there's a lot that needs to go in structually to give the mentioned success.Of course there's no one size fits all but I believe you can definitely learn from others and borrow parts of it to fit your model of success.

          Hence why I posted this vid as to see what parts of it resonated with our fans.

        • Or development pathways or anything else his job is to coach the FG side nothing else unless he's tasked too if he is we are in more trouble than I thought.

          • Not completely Coryn. There's nothing wrong with JR having his fingerprints on the lower grades. As the Club Coach all coaching staff should fall under him and making sure these coaches employ his vision into the lower grades is important too

            • In words only if he's having to worry about the lower grades and what's coming then you get in trouble.FG coaches job is pretty much 24/7 where you get time to do anything during the season he can't do it.

              What he can do in the off season is have a flexible template of what he would like but if you have coaches in the lower grades he can't micro manage these guys I'm not a fan if he is doing that.

              • Yes we can agree he shouldn't have to micro manage.  A good example would be one of the tactics Ciraldo has implemented at the dogs I believe is taken somewhat from soccer in a high press. Their kick chase is unbelievable every time and they really try to bury you down your end. You would expect Dogs lower grades would be implementing that too so that if they are called into 1st grade they know their assignment 

        • I agree, but that is who has to rustle the cage. It seems the board don't know any better and it is the issue raised by media before BA was even sacked that some on that board could not locate the pointy end of the football.

      • I don't think so LB. Ryles is the coach. Mark O'Neil is Head of Football Operations and List manager. Ben Rogers in]s in charge of recruitment and retention.

        Above them sits Sarantinos and the Board.

        All 4 make up the recrument and retention committee.

        It is actually Sarantinos and the Boards Job to remove Mark O'Neil and or Ben Rogers, I'd suggest.

    • Fongy previously said he was a good operator. Not knowing any different, I'll take that at face value.

      But as you have stated, nothing seems to have changed at the pointy end.

  • We need a Rich Successful Bussiness Head (not in Construction or Dodgy, an old Money type) quality GM of Football and Head of Recruitment.   We have the facilities and what seems to be a smart new gen Head Coach.

    As much as it pains for me to Say look at the Dogs once they got Arthur Laundy, Gus and Ciraldo....their recruitment success is batting 100

    • Good point PG but the chain reaction started when they got Gus.

      Once Gus was onboard he targeted Ciraldo and got his man

      Hes also used his network of contacts to get them humming behind the scenes also.

      Make no mistake though the Dogs recovery and success was all by design it's not like the. fiasco we saw round our hiring and firing of our past and present coach.There's no polava around retention and recruitment there's a 100% plan in place it's just a well oiled machine not a clunky bike chain that's in need of oil.

      See when I look at Parra I really don't.I look at teams like Melbourne why are they the machine they are and when you look deeper it's not just Bellamy even though he's a big part of it they have quality all through there front office coaching recruitment and retention and they don't miss.

      Hence this is what we are up against and for a club of our size we just aren't anywhere near the mentioned yet we expect coaches to beat these guys consistently and win a comp with what we have.I mean honestly are we just taking the piss and making up numbers sometimes I do wonder.
