V'Landys on Hello Sport

Happy Monday, if anyone wants a good laugh to start their week, skip to 32:50 mark and listen to this f***wit talk. It is laughable seriously. Claiming the offer of $300k was a great deal and we can put that into our junior system. But said we can put some money into the cap but at same time said they cannot break the rules in regard to cap as it is unfair. But can break the rules with contracts?

  • Just shows Vlandy is not a neutral administrator. He is an administrator solely for the revenues regardless whether it is fair for all teams. He mentioned about possibility of including the $300K into the Eels salary but then said it will not be fair to the other teams just to close the deal between Eels and Storms. But he never thought of about how unfair it will be for the Eels of not getting another player of at least they prefer to have in return.

$300K is a big amount but Eels does not need it. What it needs is another NRL player that they prefer and think can be of value to the Eels. It is not the amount of transfer fee. He said we did not pay St George when we got Lomax  He should have thought that St George released him without any clause attached to it. This tone alone showed his bias for the Storms.

Why is he pressuring the Eels to accept Storms money offer when in fact Eels never talked about money but of another player they prefer. Actually, the case is all about the Eels and Lomax and it is now up to the court to decide.  But with the discovered documents, hopefully the Judge with call the Storm executives and Abdo to the stand. This will be more thrilling to watcb than the Storm Eels game in Rd1😉

    • @TolEllts

Understand that PVL is not an administrator in the sense you understand it, Abdo is an administrator, PVL is a leader.

He is a style of leader that makes things happen and what I would call a "benevolent dictator" it is the best form of management "if you get it right"

Inevitably what happens in some situations is that "power and crazyness" becomes difficult to adjudge and develops as surely as Evolution..

I have previously written on here that his "hamfisted" approach in this exercise is surprising for someone I regarded as very asute. He has let himself down, created a mini monster in Abdo and admitting that St George was the team he follows is an absurd admission.

So we are now left with an authoritorian dictatorship rather than a benevolent one.....this one mistake will not be the criteria that brings him undone, but it very well could be the start of it?.......Remember (you wouldn't because it was in the 1170's) that Henry the second started his own downfall by saying "will no one rid me of this troublsome priest"  ......think Thomas Beckitt!...... I do not envisgae PVL good catholic that he is getting flogged by a team of priests as a penance, maybe a team of one eyed eels? led by Sir Randolph the Knave!.(pun intended).

      • Thanks for the reply and some history lesson  Poppa.😊. Just hopong that we get the best outcome from this brouhaha.

        • No worries mate, I was just being a smart arse with the History Part, Love my History, trouble is its so hard for me to remember some. I am sure there were a few on here that reckoned I was probably around in the 1100's.... Chiefy reckon's I am past it and I am sure Carlo was around for the inquisition! Lol

          • Oi !!!!!!

  • V'Landys is here to turn the NRL into a money making machine - commercial revenue. That's it, that is his single remit and his sole objective. From broadcast rights to international expansion, the only things he cares about are the big ticket items that can be turned into revenue.

Now view all of his actions through that lens, and they make more sense.

He will do whatever is in the best interest of the NRL making money. When he was under threat by R360, he went on the attack. When it wasn't a threat to revenue anymore he doesn't care. Always driven by the prime directive. He's actually very predictable.

    • Well ideally he would want Lomax playing Round 1. But it makes Magic Round huge.

      • The Storm being successful is great for NRL expansion. He wants the Storm to be winning big all the time. Eating into AFL territory is a double win - expansion and damaging the competition.

Lomax is an exciting player to watch, he wants him on the field.

I get why V'Landys wants this to happen, it benefits him to have Lomax playing and the Storm winning. Sucks for us, but we already line his pockets and aren't going to leave any time soon so he simply doesn't care.

    • Good analysis Cappy, but if we were in a corporate planning session with PVL it would be Win at all costs, not win win which is the usual "motherhood",
