1 Eyed Eel was established and has become the community it is because of a simple connection.
We all support Parramatta. We all care. We all want that fifth premiership. We'd all like Jason Ryles to be standing on the dais alongside Mitchell Moses with the Provan-Summons trophy.
The results on the field have not been there since 2022. We all know that. The club knows that. It's why Brad Arthur and his coaching staff were dismissed. It's why Jason Ryles was appointed. It's why we shed almost the entirety of the 2022 grand final squad.
Yet what I have watched this season on the field, is the clear display that this playing group is united. They may be inexperienced. They make mistakes. They have lost more games than they have won. But they keep fighting for each other.
The keep fighting for the badge. The playing group is together. The club itself is together. All pulling in the same direction.
Can we say that as fans?
Can we say we're all united?
I'm not talking about blind faith. That doesn't work. This site has existed in many ways as a field for criticism to be expressed and that will always remain.
1 Eyed Eel itself was a catalyst for change during and after the Roy Spagnolo years. Phil united large sections of the supporter base to oppose those who would seek to bring the club down.
Now I see a new threat rising. One that tears at the very fabric of what we as supporters should stand for.
What is happening among other sections of the membership (yes I am referring to Talking Parra) is similar to what Roy Spagnolo attempted.
He has placed himself in opposition to the very club he supports. He has posted publicly that leadership should be removed because he disagrees with their decisions.
He has called on fans to brigade the club through email and phone.
This all stems from him losing access to players and sources within the club.
He has contacted other Eels members. He has publicly made false and misleading statements. He posted abusive commentary towards club staff.
He has seeked to damage the reputation of club staff.
This is not on. This is self-serving. This is trying to make yourself bigger than the club.
This was a comment the owner of the Talking Parra page left on Facebook: "The people in charge are not supporting me so why should I support them."
This is even more damaging and vitriolic than anything Roy did.
The club itself has determined to suspend his membership for his actions. That is the club's prerogative. All of us sign up to those terms and conditions when we join as members.
And memberships, social media presence, websites, they don't grant you anything other than the merch you receive, the tickets you purchase and the events the club provides.
It does not guarantee access to players, it does not provide inside information, it does not entitle you to anything.
I agreed to take stewardship of 1 Eyed Eel because I saw the site in a similar way to Phil. I did not take it with the belief it entitled me to anything.
I look over at some of our former 1 Eyed Eel members at The Cumberland Throw, who do a fantastic job at covering the entire club. Those who have had the pleasure of speaking with Sixties or Mitch or Forty20 will know the absolute Parra people they are.
They don't do what they do because they see themselves as being owed anything. They do it because they care.
I have nothing personal against Talking Parra.
We both joined the SGA at the same time. He has since departed of his own accord.
What I cannot stand though, is someone believing they are bigger than the club and attacking those who have disagreed with him, or called him out when has got things wrong.
He's called for fans to go after the club on socials, by phone and email.
Who is staffing that? It's not the executive. It's the regular staff who should not be made to be collateral damage.
He doesn't care though.
We should be united as a supporter group the same way this playing group is united.
Instead we're watching someone attempt to tear down the club. Who is directing his anger at the very people who stabilised and rebuilt the club from the ashes of the salary cap saga that saw it placed into Administration.
And in so doing he will affect the lives of those who simply want to go to work and serve the members of the club.
This is not okay. This is not on.
United we stand. Divided we fall.
Back the Badge.

Apparently the host talked about the club not liking him posting injury updates, and he said Jim had a go at him for breaking the Adidas sponsor for 27 Adam the host
Adam said he knew of the injuries through fans watching at kellyville and not through players
No. This is the first full show I've ever watched. Previously I've watched parts but wasn't impressed with certain things. Today's podcast was informative. Nothing over the top
Daz, you & Hoe raked me over the coals for asking if you were really "Prof Mon" and now you pull this bullshit. I have lost a lot of respect for you
Hoe, I took exception with the terms you conflated to chide my treatment of Daz. Does this comment make my point clearer? I accept your gross mischaracterization of my comments as the message it is.

Daz, Chiefy is not the Parra Talk representative. Thank you, Randy. You’re absolutely right on that point.
But Randy, you need to pull your head in.
Your personal shots suggesting Daz was on a payroll and acting unethically were just one example among multiple digs and provocations.
Those comments were not edited or deleted.
You were not suspended.
Nor was it a one-off incident.
You also mocked players and medical conditions in comments that I deleted. No other action was taken against you, despite that being unacceptable conduct,
There is a lot more involved here than your disagreement with Daz. Don't play victim.
Additionally, your expectation of perfect moderation or complete consistency is naive and unrealistic. If moderators pulled up every personal shot, insult, or petty dig, we’d need to be on here 24/7.
Instead, we focus on patterns of conduct. We pull people up when they repeatedly cross the line, fail to self-correct, and become repeat offenders.
You need to stop continually white-anting moderation.
You’ve done it multiple times, and that is unacceptable.
I’m not going to keep warning you or debating this issue.
If you continue escalating matters here or on other blogs, we may start removing comments made in bad faith and take further action without additional warning.
You have been warned more than enough times.
You don’t need to respect me.
You need to respect the rules of this house, just as you might expect people to respect the rules in your own house.
You’re not a victim here.
The choice is yours.
Hoe is right.
Daz seems to think it's funny to associate my name with the group that allegedly tried to damage the club's reputation and encouraged fans to contact and harass club staff.
I take strong exception to Daz atempting to undermine me as a long-standing member of this site. What's particularly disappointing is that he's quick to complain to the moderators when he receives abusive comments or cheap shots, yet when the situation is reversed, he appears to think this sort of behaviour is acceptable.
That double standard is hard to ignore.
Furthermore, I expect a public apology for these comments. This is not the first time Daz has attempted to undermine or misrepresent me.
If an apology is not forthcoming, ill consider taking this matter further.
Chief,
Again, I agree you should not be associated with a group that is trying to undermine the club. What do you want moderation to do?
I will speak with Super about the possibility of an interpersonal ban between you and Daz. Would that work?
That said, I think you also need to take a step back and look at your own conduct. Are you seriously suggesting you haven't made personal attacks on other members, even if tongue in cheek? Have you apologised for those? Do you even recognize what they are? (Before you ask me what they are think long and hard). Before talking about hypocrisy and double standards, some self-reflection is warranted.
You talk about double standards on personal attacks. And yet you are also part of a small group that regularly attacks moderation. We've been called hypocrites, running in bad faith, accused of running a dictatorship, and subjected to countless personal attacks. I've lost count of how many times moderation has been targeted. No-one has yet been suspended for that. Yet. Randy is on very thin ice. The thinnest of ice. Because he has done it multiple times and shows no evidence of self-correction. A suspension is warranted. You have shown to be more reasonable, but again are starting up.
The reality is that if we attempted to police and pull up every personal attack on the forum, moderation would become a full-time volunteer job. It's so common on social media. If we suspended people for every personal attack of some form, we would not have many members left. Even then, we'd miss things. As volunteers, that is simply impossible. Perfect moderation and perfect consistency do not exist and never will. Expecting otherwise is completely unrealistic.
I will also discuss with Super whether moderation needs to take a firmer approach going forward. Maybe we have been too lenient since the New Year.
Everyone is entitled to disagree with moderation decisions. Nobody is entitled to continually attack moderators or the moderation team. I will discuss with Super the way forward.
Cheify, I have no problem apologizing. I apologize. My question was intended to be legitimate, as noted above in reply to another member. The reason for the query was only that you posted a link to an upcoming Talking Parra podcast, in a blog about TP critiquing the club, and you have been a vocal critic of the club. Both vocal critics and you are posting a link to TP. That is not an absurd connection to then query status. Hence I asked if there was a connection. You've said no, I accept your word. If you perceived my query as a defamatory, then because I did not intend to be defamatory, I apologize.
Now that you have clarified your position, I am sure you will be super clear to avoid "damage to the club's reputation" in your remarks. Above you make clear that being "associated" in any way to a podcast seeking to damage the club's reputatation is not funny and grounds to demand an apology. I am glad that we have established that we agree it is useful to draw the commentary line short of claims that "damage the club's reputation".
Some of your other remarks are curious to say the least.
You think I am "quick to complain to moderators" when I receive "abusive comments or cheap shots"? Do you have evidence? See, I have counter-revidence. I've put up with crap on 1EE for ages. Arer you saying you are ignorant of the hundreds to thousands - it's really that many! - of abusive remarks and cheap shots directed my way? As a resident insane lefty loser, who is nevertheless not shy to get down in the trenches of a debate, I field abusive remarks and cheap shots all the frikkin' time. I occasionally draw the line. Note that apparently one member recently made absurd insinuations, which I never saw until they were brought to my attention by someone else! I asked the person openly to stop being silly. Just as you openly asked me to apologize, which is fine. The only time I recall going to mods was a time some time ago where 1EE members who have since left in a performative huff and puff were doxxing me (that whole code of cunduct thing). I do not miss those trolls. But interestingly, only doxxing led me to "complain to moderators". So you have zero call to accuse me of quickly complaining to moderators. My normal mode of operation is to point to the weaknesses of the critics's claim.
Similarly, if you have evidence that I have sought to "undermine or misrepresent" you, receipts receipts receipts. What does "undermining" even mean here? We disagree about scapegoating. Is it undermining of you if I disagree with you? And where have I misrepresented you? I respond to what you say. I give reasons why I disagree. It's open to you to contest those reasons. In our last disagreement, about a blog on R&R, I offered reasons for not making one and you did not want to address those reasons, so it seems a bit rich for you to claim I misrepresent you.
If none of this is satisfactory, feel free to "take it further".
Daz ill accept your apology, but just a reminder any further issues and ill consider contacting this bloke to sort the sht out. Lol 😁
I'll represent you pro bono
Randy, I appreciate your support. Ty
