The Unicorn supporters and sites such as the throw  claim that Brad should be excused for not making the finals as the eels missed 55 weeks of due to injuries and suspensions and if Penrith had received the same amount of injuries, they would no way be near the play offs.

Now let's blow the Unicorn bs excuse making excuses out of the water as these are the stats on how many regular weeks the panthers players were out of action

1.  Edwards  0 weeks out

2. Too  3 weeks out

3. Tago  10 weeks out

4. Crichton 2 out

5. Turuva  zero

6 Luai 6 weeks out

7. Cleary  5 games out

8 jfh 3 games out

9 Kenny  4 out

10 leota 1 out

11  Luke Garner 15 games out

12 Martin  9 games out

13 Yeo 2 out

14 leniu 7 games out

15 Sorenson   4 missed

16 Smith  4 out

17 hosking  6 out

The statistics provided show that Penrith had more players out (81 weeks), of action than the 55 weeks attributed to the Eels. This data suggests that Penrith faced its own set of challenges with player injuries and suspensions. Additionally, the burden of players participating in representative matches could have impacted their performance.

It's important to consider these factors when evaluating a team's performance. The argument against the Unicorn excuse making  supporters' claims, gains strength with this information

The ball is now in the Unicorns court.

  • Any chance you could post this same information for Melbourne and the Roosters? Papenhausen would have to account for 20+ weeks on his own.

    • I think you will find that Brett  will now do a set of numbers based on the same criteria that Chiefy has used.

As usual Chiefy will be proven wrong and the idiots that support will have their usual legs of jelly to stand on.

Come on Chiefy its you and Dreggsie that has opened this tin of worms and embarrassed yourselves.i.e my guess is he hasn't included Dunster, Asni, Doorey or Emu in and there would be 40 games between those lot before you get too excited.

By the way I am not aware of a group at TCT only Parra supporters andI do not have a Eels polo shirt or socks.

I'll give Adam the benefit of the doubt as his question is from another direction.

      • The 55 weeks came from a media outlet but hasn't exactly been explained how that number was reached other than a loose "includes injury, suspension and rep duty". Although when I've gone and used Rugby League Project I've totalled Parra having a total of 98 weeks.

          • Calm down ffs

            • We were going to meet for a beer Muttman the have a dinner measurements competition

    1. We don't have a squad that's balanced for 30 weeks
  • To be fair, the unicorns on this site can mostly mount a coherent argument about the achievements of the club and the coach.
Over at the wonderland of TCT, it's like a Taylor Swift concert, this lads are so far up BAs backside, they interview with headlamps.
I understand their schtick, they put the club offside and they lose their access or at least their unfettered access and their revenue.
That's why, apart from some insights, this site is far superior - that is despite some of the dribblers, that are just easy to totally ignore but I digress. ..

Bea Arthur is so ingrained at the club, that it will take a cosmic shift of the planets to remove him.
Statistics will be trotted out by the unicorns  out in wonderland and at the club but in reality if Mitchell Moses suffers an ingrown toenail it will be seized as sufficient excuse for 2 years of failure.
Fans laugh when it's suggested that he'll be here for another 10 years but there's no appetite for change at least in the next 3 to 4 years.
Strap yourself in because there is pain on the way.

  • Just my two cents on this one, and a lot will disagree, which is understandable.

The Panthers as a club do not allow excuses like missing players to justify performance, or lack of commitment. They don’t always win, but they always compete & that never waivers with or without their best 17.

The Eels made a point of this early in 2023 also. Brad was very direct in saying the Eels were not letting missing players be an excuse for losses, and that the focus was on the 17 players who were there & the opportunity they had. Which, at the time seemed a great response.

It then became a little more convenient to use missing players as an excuse late in the season, when in truth, the Eels stopped competing, stopped fighting, and were subsequently flogged consistently.

We dropped from the 6th best defensive side (after climbing from 13th or so) to around the 10th in a matter of 4-5 weeks, and while only missing 2-3 players. That is a monumental drop, and cant be contributed to a few players.

This is the issue I have with the injuries / suspension theory, of course missing players hurt, but your desire & commitment is never excusable. The fight we’d shown early on in the season with missing players, was gone.

The Eels themselves proved as much by flogging the best side of the past 3 seasons without Moses in the last round. You could see from the kick off, it was a different Eels side mentally. Their defence was outstanding.

That mentality they show against the Panthers is the blueprint, but also the problem, because they simply seem incapable of consistently turning up in this mentality & its obviously whats so frustrating to us as fans - we’ve seen just as bad performances with our best 17 as we have while missing 4-5 players.

We can continue to blame injuries, suspensions, stupidity etc. for the 2023 season, and of course it all adds up & hurts, but truth is when Brown returned, the destiny of 2023 was completely within our own hands, we had every chance of still making the top 4 in round 22 when we came up against the Storm.

We didn’t then fight out close losses, we didn't fight for the season, we looked to give up, and those defensive displays that we see year on year regardless of who is / isn't playing, need to become inexcusable for Brad, the players & the club.

2024 needs to be the season the organisation draws a line in the sand, because this team have shown they can beat the best, if that isnt enough motivation to strive for perfection across the board, then nothing will be & ultimately change is the only response.

Just my thoughts, happy to be proven wrong.

    • Fantastic post NOS.

If we played the same way against every other team like we do against Penrith, we would be unstoppable.

It's all well and good harping on about being the only team that can take it to Penrith but that's really a stupid statement if we can't do the same against the other teams.

        • What's the point of matching it with the best if you can't match it with the rest.

We need to beat the rest to match it with the best.

Unfortunately we can match it with the best in the regular season but are no where near matching it with them in the finals.
