Tyrell Sloan will honour Castleford deal

Former Dragons Winger, Tyrell Sloan, will honour his deal with Castleford as he is in the later stages of getting his visa before moving to England. Despite rumours that Sloan would end up at the Eels as a replacement for Josh Addo-Carr, Sloan will see out 2027 with the Tigers.

Does this mean JAC will be staying at Parramatta? Perhaps.

Also, in other news too, Manly have shown interest in former Eels Winger Jake Tago. Enjoy Manly.

              • One of the undisputed greatest players of all time,  Brett Kenny, says Hayne is one player he wishes he could've played with. We all definitely wish he could've too.

wiz he has grown up in a world where he was so outstanding sporting wise guess he might've thought for many of those years his sht dont stink; but I think those days thinking are long gone.

who knows maybe he can succeed with our backline even though he was extremely gifted; wouldn't be the first time Jarryd set a football precedent

'parra great takes parra backline all the way' ...deserves to be acknowledged and given a chance at least imo

            • Very true. Was definitely footy wise much stronger than all of his many coaches.
Being a dad now has to have helped him maturity wise, it does with many blokes ;)

Glad Fiji have given him a go and tbh I can't see why we don't.

              • Good commentary and I liked Wiz's summation, especially as a specialty coach.

One thing I would add that would be a large negative for Jarryd would be his communication skills.

One of my great critiques of his growing up into the wonderful player he was, was the direction that Parra gave him. Brian Smith tried to handle him a way of reducing the ego, but once he left JH became a protected species of give him whatever he wants.

As the brilliant 14 year old he was identified as, Parra need an assesment of how we are going to develop this young player, education would have been the direction, he should have been told as a 19 year old about post Rugby League future being limited over time. Media training, debating skils and proper english would have been such a boon for him.....instead he became an expert on Playstation NFL games, which was arguably too late by then. he must have had a good brain to understand all those plays and moves.i.e he was capable of learning !!.

Mentoring of young players off the field is just as important as on the field and when you get someone as special as Jarryd Hayne, there was so much that we neglected as a football club.

I would have a contingency plan in the football club for any gifted athletes that come into the club and how we handle, mentor and educate them. The women potentially come into such a programme as well.

Dyllan Brown had a bit of the same and again some education would not have gone astray there.

History of the club, the game and the character has enormous future value for any young players we bring through. This application especially through cultural heritage etc. Don't blame Dyllan Brown for not knowing who Brett Kenny was, it was all there to be taught.

In finalising what I am saying here, if you can teach the history and love of the club, you will always have a better chance of retaining gifted players.....a smart physcologist could even have a programme like that for any new players that come to the club whether young or old.

  • Glad we are not getting him, super league will suit him he does not like to tackle, or take the high ball or the hard runs. No loss.

  • On last nights game, Kurt Donohughe had an amazing game at 6. You wonder why the Dolphins wasted their money on a bum like George Williams when they have him. Some silky passes there, I'm sure a few clubs would have taken notice.

  • Fast yeah, defensively nah.no big deal he not coming.

Personally have no want to see a return to the bad old days of wingers throwing out the welcome mat to opposition.

just find someone who is defensively on the money and vstrong in early carries.

Defence, that was the thing about JAC that was great to have, let's face it he wasn't exactly vstrong on hauling it back up early in set tho.

Still, I can see why parra is torn on how to handle the shite JAC has put himself in. Not an easy decision :(
