Tyrell Sloan will honour Castleford deal

Former Dragons Winger, Tyrell Sloan, will honour his deal with Castleford as he is in the later stages of getting his visa before moving to England. Despite rumours that Sloan would end up at the Eels as a replacement for Josh Addo-Carr, Sloan will see out 2027 with the Tigers.

Does this mean JAC will be staying at Parramatta? Perhaps.

Also, in other news too, Manly have shown interest in former Eels Winger Jake Tago. Enjoy Manly.

  • Seems like anything Kenty says we should assume the opposite. Good to know

    • And many still take his word for it. I have never seen a track record so poor.

      • Based on recent form you'd have to think poor kenty is just making stuff up to stay relevant and has zero contacts anymore.

  • Copy can't talk long Fiji have us on the ropes

    • I'd really like to see Parra make enquiries about the Fiji number4 he is gonna be a fantastic centre based on his cup form. Hope he is available 🤞

      • Saukuru? Yeah there were rumours but were quickly debunked that we were after him. He extended with Wests.

        • Bummer thanks LB.

And also hope we get Jarryd on board with helping out our fullback and backline this year. Definitely worth a shot.

          • Yeah one thing about Hayne is his footy brain is incredible. Had he not had the off-field drama, i reckon he would make a decent enough coach. He has seemed to have matured out of sight compared to his playing days.

            • The issue I found over the years is that brilliant naturally talented players don't make great coaches as they haven't really had to study how and why they have the skills they have .  When you're naturally talented it's quite hard to relay to another player how replicate .

Thats why some of the least talented players make great coaches as they had to work at their skills.  They know what it takes to aquire growth in their skills.   Take someone like Bennett , he was a very good player, but not great. If you read his book , he worked for every bit of his career to get where he got.  He was as far from a natural talent as you'd get.

Then you have guys like Johns , Fittler , Meninga , etc etc , horrible coaches.  Hayne wouod probbably make a decent speciality coach .  Not saying he definitely would not be a good coach, you really don't know , young players would certainly respect him ,  most would've idolised him growing up. But yeah sometimes these types just can't relay how they do what they did on the paddock.
You're 100% right mate, Hayne was a very smart footy brain the could see an opportunity lighting fast.  The confidence he had in his own ability to action these opportunities was out of this world, I saw some post comparing him to Inglis yesterday , and the amount of idiots saying Inglis was a more talented player was ridiculous.  No player has been on Haynes level in my time , albeit it only really lasted about 6 months at his peak , but at that peak he was the best ive seen in the modern game .  You could argue in a few old players favour that if they'd been placed now , with the training and tech they'd maybe be better , but as it stands , without a magic wand he's the best Ive seen during that peak.   If he coukd coach that , he'd be a very very rich man .

But he is a dope off the paddock lol.

              • Well Bryce Gibbs I have been told is a dumb you know what in real life, but in terms of the game has the mind of a world class Halfback. It's odd how that works.

Yes that is what I should have said, more so a specialist coach or at most an assistant of some sorts. I can see him coaching Fiji in the future though.

But you are 100% correct in that great players many times make rubbish coaches as they do not understand why others cannot do what they do. Benji had that issue where he would tell his halves to do this and their reply is "we can't do that as we are not you" and he would get frustrated when they don't do it.

Then you have someone like Holbrook who's mind saw more than his body can do, understanding the benefit of playing to the strengths of players.
