Titans, this game goes with the list of games we should have won.

What went wrong? Amongst the uncontrollable was Gutherson's sin bin, his intercept pass, Khan Perrira's individual brilliance (the try he scored with the kick chase was just about indefensible).

Yes, you can say in hindsight there were errors of judgement, but shit happens... Titans scored 5 tries and my allowance for opposition tries is always 2.

We made errors that were controllable just the same, Davey being picked to play on that edge was a gamble not needed to be taken.

Hodgson was again left on too long and frankly, he is now becoming a Burdon. We were considerably better with Hands on.

Once sin-binned, Moses moving to fullback was understandable except that weakened our right edge which was always the danger. And two tries were scored there with Guth off. Simmonsson has plenty of experience playing fullback and we could have therefore been a lot smoother in the exercise...

Where I am heading here is that the controllable errors were the coach's. But, I repeat, untill we get a better choice we cannot sack him! Mind you, I saw no preparation against the Titans' strengths.

The thing that ultimately surprised me was the qualities of the Titans' game. The kicks that Tanah Boyd kept putting down Gutho's throat and to a lesser degree Sivo were giving Parra a taste of their own medicine i..e. the same process that Parra uses in strangling a side. The young winger Kahn Pierrra is a real talent and homework can tell you that.

Finally, when we got on top and clawed our way back, I don't feel that we felt we will win this, it was like now we have caught up it doesn't look so bad....i.e we had no killer instinct. At one point I thought when back to 22/18 we may put a score on them, they have failed this way before (the Titans) and I assume we didn't understand they are not the "easy-beat" Titans anymore.

In a season that is looking dimmer and dimmer, I haven't given up yet, even if we lose our next two.

It's fun following a team like Parra, to quote a famous politician, "Life was not meant to be easy". Just ask Trent Robinson and a few teams that had unexpected losses this round and continue to have them. A lot of sides can fall by the wayside in the last third of the season.

  • If Meninga didn't derail them by telling Fogerty to tell his story walking because Mal thought Sexton was hotter property , they'd have been a genuine title threat already.  Ironically the gamble does still hinge on old Foz staying fit and teaching the young blokes what it takes to not panick , last night they were a dramatically improved team from a maturity side of things.

Titans were fortunate last night, Gutherson doesn't get sent to the bin , or throw his signature intercept , they have a much different game on their hands , but playing the game that was presented they were the far better team.

It's amazing what importing a bit of fresh and experienced talent can do to a team.  People gushing over Moses , saying how we would not recover if we didn't pay him 1.2-1.3 million and plead with him to grace us with his presence , and yet there's a handful of young halves coming through making him look dramatically overpaid.

    • Those young halves that you mention will, if they are good enough be on the same sort of money that Moses is on in due course.

You need to get over that Wiz, you mention Sexton in your post, he is not in the current side.....what Titan's do have is an enormous talent bank and it will be up to their coach to exploit it.

The reality is at present they do not have a half as good as Moses and in Fafita they have the highest over paid player in NRL history, seems that doesn't quiet make your story does it Wiz.

Just remember that "one swallow does not a summer make"...... I had to include that quote as having Drooper on the blog means that he will have to research that for a couple of days to understand what we are talking about.

Wiz I thought your initial summary of the game was good value, why spoil it with your myopic unchanging views, Brown didn't get a mention tonight.....what about all the highly paid players in the Roosters side, are they allowed to have an off day as well?

      • Of course Sextons not in the current line up. Derp , that's the point.

You couldn't have missed more points if you had a point finding contraption and set it to reverse.

As for Brown, why don't you go and look at the 3 or 4 posts I made on the other threads last night and come back to me before you want to accuse me of ignoring his game for whatever personal purposes I have set  in your brain.

        • Relax son, I dont read all the posts on here and Sexton is not as good Boyd, so whats your point, neither of those halves are going to be world beaters. But I understand Titans have a better one to come!

          • Read what I wrote ffs.  I was saying that if Mal hadn't chose to save a few bucks by not re-signing Fogerty because Mal decided Sexton was a better option , The Titans would be far further down their rebuilding and be a genuine title contender by now. Mal and His mate The Whingeing Bull were told to take a seat and let the coach live or die by his own sword.

My point literally was stating that Sexton was the wrong option due to him not being in the side. But hey, thanks for dropping by to let me know Sextons not in their team.

  • Popsicle it's clearly obvious the Eels won't make the 8. Gutherson's brain snaps which ultimately cost the Eels 16 points and the game was certainly not uncontrollable as it was based upon stupidity especially for the Eels captain and leader. The other issue that was even more controllable was Brad Arthurs ridiculous team selection and bench rotation. The only uncontrollable issue was the NRL's diabolical and corrupted 2023 Telstra Draw. The fact is the Titans weren't that great but the Eels were diabolically terrible.

    • Drooper, if I want an idiots opinion, I will call you. In the interim it is in your power to delete your post.

      • I knew you'd appreciate my valuable insight. No need to thank me popsicle

    • Titans were certainly afforded the rub of the green last night, but they were hardly diabolical mate. They played a great game for what was in front of them. Us on the other hand folded like a bunch of over egotistical wankers that assumed we'd win it.

      • They actually only began to assume dominance after the Gutherson dumb error and he was sent for 10 minutes. Prior to that they were vulnerable. When Princess Gutherson went packing for 10 and they scored their confidence lifted experdentially and the Eels never really recovered in my opinion.
