Thomas Jenkins

I have no inside intel or contacts within rugby league circles, but this is one rumour I keep seeing in different parts of the internet.  Social media, Penrith forums, other eels forums etc.

Milky Jenkins apparently is going to sign a 3 year deal with Parra. Again I don't know how true this is. He'd be a good addition.  Yes he plays on the end of a dominant team and yes he was average at Newcastle. But he was also a kid. He's matured and coming into the peak years of his career. Quick, great in the air and often makes 200m a game.  Something we are lacking. I'd love for this to be true.

        • Look LB, if we get Jenkins, Leniu, Suli and Burton with Sua also coming and bring up some young kids into our 30 we could be on track. We aren't a bad team we need certain type of players within our system so we can flourish in NRL.

          • What I was saying Parrafan is Suli is not a great signing in scheme of things. But if you mix him in with other signings like say Jenkins and Leniu as the example then the signing is not that bad as an added addition.

Its not that I hate Suli, I don't mind him. Defensive stats aren't too bad, he's a big body and experienced and a point to prove. But he's also not massively better than what we currently have and compared to the likes of Timoko, Xerri and possibly Tago, we could have gotten better. But if we get Jenkins and others like Leniu and even Burton, Suli is not a bad addition.

            • Maybe we do get Xerri or tago with Pensini maybe going. But i'm liking how we are building things nicely, reminds me before 2019. We just need to get our defensive schemes right because our attack is alright but i think ryles is pushing more towards fast play the ball with Tallyn and Suli coming and Jenkins adds to that fast play the ball quick style.

I'm starting to get a bit excited, because there is something there with our young core and the players seem to be tight and respect Ryles very highly. If things can go our way with a few more signings and injury doesn't happen as much to our players. We could see the fruits of what Ryles is trying to build.

            • When was the last time Eels signed a decent player from another club that actually did something beneficial? I can only think of a few and that was years ago. Players like Steven Edge ( Dragons) Mackraken and the other Bulldogs player that Brian Smith signed. Can't think of any others! Foran did zip when he was at Parra

              • Moses Beau Scott Gutho RCG Paulo Lomax off the top of my head in reasonably recent times.

Its a tougher go now because talent is speed thinner with more teams and the teams that seemingly develop the best are the teams that are ahead of the kerb.

IMO the key here in the recruitment & retention and developing stakes is we have to correctly identify this talent and lock it down this to me is the next progression for the club. We've had an unlucky loss of juniors and talent in the last 12-18 months. Now we have to cull that and continue to build. We can't continue down the same track that's the key for me.

      • I feel like you aren't reading everything that I have been saying haha. First you ask where did I read that when I literally said on different fan sites plus social media. Now my first four words were "for what its worth" ie take it with a grain of salt. I am more than aware of Kent's prediction of Galvin.

I do think that is a different situation. There were more clubs going for him. I can't imagine Moses Suli has 3 clubs wanting to spend close to a mil on him. And by all reports Galvin didn't even know the night before. He was all but signed with Parra. His dad was convinced.  Had a last minute change.

But back to Suli. Its just a rumour. Better to discuss rumour target's as opposed to multiple blogs on how shit our r and r is.

        • Though with Suli it's not a case of him wanting to break the deal, he was tapped. So unless Parra got onto him earlier and then he nudged for a early release and Saints said yeah all sweet. But at this stage those who want him more likely are only starting to look now.

        • Just a correction on Galvin, it was not a case of more clubs going for him, than a fact that it was a total set up that Gould manufactured....those in the know, player agent wise all knew that Galvin was signed sealed and delivered months before it became public.....not Parra's fault they were taken for a ride!

      • Insight and intellectual as always.

        • Chief still thinks memes are some go to shit ☠️ tell me you're late 40s early 50s without saying it ☠️
