  • That's an amazing read.

  • What an emotional read and a great trip down memory lane.

Here's to today as the start of the next era of great memories.

  • What a wonderful read. Thanks for posting Coco. Now I have to get on the train to the ground with red eyes. The only brothers he left out were Dick and Ken Thornett and Ed and Ted Sulkowicz. Ed, who was much maligned, scored the try to tie up the 77 GF. Ted was lost only a few weeks ago. I know Snake is secretly a fan of big Dick as well as Ken's (Kensington?). I became a Parramatta man because of Dick and Ken.

    Come on Parra

  •  I'm bawling my eyes out like a child.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but I'm not sure I'll be able to handle us winning.

    This is for you Nan,

this is for you as a chain smoking 52 year old running down the Brewongle Stand concourse urging Brett Kenny down the touchline at the cricket ground in '81 like you were riding Kingston Town down the straight at Moonee Valley ,

this is for the little piece of charred Cumberland Oval grandstand you saved for you're then largely unaware 7 year old grandson,

    I still have it,

I hope you enjoy the day up there in a way you never could in '01,

I hope you actually watch it in the way you couldn't bring yourself to in '09,

I hope that at approximately10:30 tonight you can finally find rest some 10 years after we laid you to rest.

    DESTINY IS UPON US

    • Oh man, stop it. The emotion has got me going. Here's to your Nan.

    • Bro that made me cry.
My Grandma was similarly a loud and proud Eels tragic. When we went to Cumberland Oval the family made her sit by herself because she was just so loud.
When she was older and no longer going to games, when Parra were on the TV she would literally yell at anyone who dared make a sound or try to get her attention. We used to call her home phone during games as a prank and she'd get so cranky lol.
This one is for her too.

      • I remember in 01, we all had a big BBQ at my parents house before we watched the game, Nan was there. After my Nan and my Mum, who had a pretty volatile relationship at the best of times, got into a massive argument like you wouldn't believe. Everyone's emotions were so raw, but especially Nan. My Pop had died in '79 after he had a heart attack at the cricket ground watching the Eels lose to the much hated Dragons in the semi.

I've always maintained that Nan was the only person who was a more passionate Eels fan than me.

  • Wow quite a lot of flashback in that. The magnitude of a parra win today will be biblical.  🤞🏻🇺🇦 🙏🏻
    LETS GO PARRA

  • So well written. Hats off Michael Chammas.

    • Wow!! That made me tear up..

"At the end of the day they are an entertainment business. It is true and the way of the sport. Same with the comment that TV runs the league. That is also true and is the reason for where the game is in terms of money.
I do feel though regardless…"

"They try and put on the best games possible for views.
This right here is the problem. Fucking this whole "managed for entertainment" shit idea right off...vegas too...and that would allow a randomized  draw.
Are you not entertained?
