I believe Brad has peaked.
We've seen the best of him, and it's not going to get better. We know this. He's had 10 years to prove otherwise.
I'm not saying he isn't a good coach, but he's not a great one. He is a fringe top 8 coach. Playing finals footy (if we're lucky) isn't good enough anymore. Half the teams in the NRL do that every year. It's not the top 8, its the top 50%.
We need be a top 10% team. And I don't believe Brad has it in him. I believe with the squad we have under the likes of Cleary, Bellamy or Bennett we'd be a good 30% better.

I thought he'd peaked in 2017 to be honest, the 2018 Wooden Spoon should have been his last season in charge.
You can argue he made the Grand Final last year but we had a dream run.
I'd argue he peaked some time ago. It's been the same game plan for years.
Yeah 2014
When are you stepping up to coach?
If you aren't, who do you have coming through that WILL take the Eels to the promise land?
If the Eels change the coach, don't win the Premiership and actually do worse than they are now. Are you going to blame that coach and want him gone as well?
Will you complain about the coach forever until the Eels win a Premiership and when they do, how long do they have until you complain about them again?
Is the coach to blame for injuries suspensions, the draw, the refs, the NRL, the weather, the war in Ukraine and children starving? If so, you're absolutely right. The Eels should sack him and replace him with.........
I never said I'd do a better job. If i could, I'd love to have Brad Arthurs salary. I also never said he is a bad coach.
You're very defensive, which tells me you're satisfied. All power to you.
I am not satisfied and like everyone else, I won't be until the Eels win the big one and then that will only last until the next season. That's how fickle winning premierships is. What I am though, is a realist and I understand just how hard it is to win one. As long as we are there abouts, we are a chance. Unless the next coach coming in has a proven premiership winning record, it would be 50/50 AT BEST whether they could do better than BA. 50/50 at best is too risky.
If the Eels have a re-peat of this season next, then we can talk about sacking the coach but when he got us to the Grand Final last season and our team is VERY competitive when at full strenght, we should not be looking for the hail mary approach. That's what changing BA would be right now. Make smart calculated desicsions, not ones based on biast emotions. BA can coach and that is a fact. Is he the best coach in the world no. How's Bennett, Robinson, Ciraldo (The next of the next best coaches) going? They are doing awful but near everyone on here wanted them here at some stage.
I'm all for moving on a coach if they just aren't performing but BA has and is. Winning a premiership is REALLY HARD, simple as that and it takes more than just a great coach to do it. The entire club needs to be on point. Ever worked somewhere where everyone is on point? It's as rare as hens teeth which are as rare as premierships.
Lets make the smart, facts and statistics based descisions, not emotional ones.
I'm a realist too mate. I've defended B.A in the past. I like him. But reality is, he has shown nothing to prove he can take things up a notch. He is a yo-yo coach. We'll go well one year then go backwards the following only to go back to where we were 2 years later without a premiership in site. I want to see him rock the craddle, walk the dog, go around the world with his yo-yo ways! Something special is needed.
"he has shown nothing to prove he can take things up a notch". He took the Eels to the Grand Final last year which is the first time since 09 that the Eels have got there.
The Eels have been getting better and better almost every year under BA with the odd exception.
When was the last time Wayne Bennet won a premiership. Are teams going backwards with him?
When was the last time Trent Robinson won a premiership. Are the Roosters going backwards with him?
When was the last time Craig Bellamy won a premiership. Are the Storm going backwards with him?
When was the last time the next best up and comming coach won a premiership and are they now going backwards with him?
It's very easy to throw out emotional comments when you are emotional, I do it as well but I try to refrain from it as I almost always end up looking back at those comments and thinkiing I didn't really think that through.
I am all for the Eels improving but part of improving is trial and error and this season is an error in certain areas but not a complete write off. Certainly not bad enough to sack the coach and go for a hail mary. That's what the Tigers and Dragons need to do because they are litterally way off the pace and need almost, if not, complete re-builds. The Eels are nowhere near that but things can change fast and should they I will be more than happy to change my opnion but it will be based on facts and statistics, not emotion. Running a business on emotion is the fastest way to ruins. Running it based on facts, statiscis and rigorous methods is the best way to run it but it rarely happens fast. Immediate satisfaction is what everyone wants but aren't ready for the harsh reality of how fast that disapears because it was likely just a flash in the pan.
The Eels are in a good place, much better than where they were 10 years ago and they just need to keep on that path. Slow and steady will win the race and likely keep us there for a very long time.
Throwing things at the wall and hoping something sticks is basing everything on luck. That is the worst business practice.
Hey Matthew, yeah maybe I'm a little emotional about it but I'd say I'm being more rationale. You build a tough skin supporting the Eels.
Going up a notch means winning a premiership not going backwards.
As for the coach's you mentioned, you really don't want me number the amount of premierships they've won in the last 37 years since we last won it. I'll tell you since Brad has been at the helm they have won 7 between them.
'Slow and steady wins the race'. After nearly 40 years without a premiership I'd have to say you're the most patient person i know.
7 premierships over 37 years between 3 different coaches equates to one every 5 years. BA has had the Eels in and around the Finals for most of the time he has been here and got us to the Grand Final last year.
BA hasn't been at the Eels for 40yrs so can't be blamed for anything outside of the time he has been here and they ARE on a clear uptrend, but nothing goes up vertically. It's two steps forward with one step backwards to get there.
You show me the coach that is coming to the Eels and has a proven track record of making teams better almost year on year and I am onboard with you. If you can't, then I will stick with a coach who does have a proven track record of getting the team better and better over a long period of time. Those stats will show you that they are likely (not guaranteed) to get there if the stay on that path. Changes things for someone that's unproven and a hail mary shot and you are more of a chance of putting the Eels back 10yrs than getting them a premiership.
I completely understand everyones frustrations but you don't let emotional, erratic people steer the ship because they will just end up crashing it. Find me a better captian to steer the ship and I will listen, till then, I will trust the captain we have.
