I appreciate we're not supposed to cut 'n paste news articles, but this a good one on Ryles' decision to dump the underperforming Brown and should delight Brown haters everywhere.

The best decision made by a coach in season 2025 belongs to Jason Ryles.

Dumping the defecting Dylan Brown from his Eels side has transformed the team. It was a masterstroke.

There’s no room for dead wood in the NRL and the ridiculous November 1 rule means clubs are dealing with dead wood all the time. Having a player, especially one as overhyped and perennially disappointing as Brown, hanging around until he gets overpaid elsewhere is no good for anyone.

Some will argue the Eels should have let him go straight away when he signed, but why should they? He was under contract for 2025 and the Eels rightly decided he’d be doing as he was told. Maybe for the first time.

It makes for horror reading and Newcastle fans must be wondering what on earth their club has done throwing more than ten per cent of the team’s salary cap for the next ten years at a player who’s already past the mid-point of his career and is one of the worst halves in the competition in all stat categories.

  • I'm sure the Brown Undies brigade will be along shortly  , who'll tell us that anyone who disagrees with them are dopes and know  nothing about Rugby League. Their cheer squad ( Ploppa ) will then go about fluffing them up and telling us how they are an old hock shop owners wet dream come true.

Some people, just can't understand how a " defensive half " whatever the fuck that is , is not some great asset like they need us to believe as they've been harping on about this idiot kid being the future of Parramatta for almost a decade . Their online ego is all they have.

Where is the great ME anywho ? Seems to have vanished since this flop has proven he's not the great wonder that ME argued till the death that he was going to be .

  • I don't like using very surface level stats like Breen has used here to highlight how much a player is "worth". Like Ponga has played 13 games this season, managed 1 try and 9 try assists. Is that a million dollar fullback?

Anyway, I don't think the dropping of Brown is as much about Parra playing well as the return of Moses. He elevates everyone. Hawkins isn't exactly shredding sides with his running game since Moses came back.

Brown isn't worth $14 million. But it also wasn't the dropping of him that resulted in us beating Brisbane.

  • Who is this Brown bloke , havnt seen him for a couple of years now. The last I heard of a footy player with that name, he was at a titty bar in the eastern suburbs, and he hasn't been seen since.
