Call me cynical but I think these "embrace the player" moments done to folks with diseases that may be (in the future) found to be related to traumatic head injuries / concussions are done purely as a tactic to make sure that they don't try to sue the pants off the NRL or their club.
Not saying it's 100% non genuine, but I definitely think there are a few lawyers that said "Treat them well!" to make sure this all ends without any finger pointing at the NRL and their duty of care.
I'm with you on this. How footy players get given special treatment and fundraisers is a joke when they earn more than politicians and surgeons etc

This is just a case of V'landys hiding behind Arrow. He knows anyone that would publicly call him out would be howled down. But V'landys screwed up by not booking a pre-match act and then watched the AFL smash it out of the park. Souths and the NRL did a great job with Arrow's 99th and 100th match celebrations.
No need to wheel him out to cover the boss' poor planning.
Arrow would be getting a lap of honour anyway as a retiring player.
He's only opened for Taylor Swift. But yeh let's all judge an artist based on who knows him on a Parramatta Eels supporter website with a very narrow demographic.
