Given the raft of injuries across first grade I thought it best to collate it all together to see where we currently sit. Have sorted it into positions.
1. Iongi
2. Twidle
3. Russell (maybe back this week)
4. Samrani
5. Simonsson
6. Pezet
7. (Moses groin but still playing)
8. (Paulo carrying an injury but still playing)
9. (Smith carrying an injury but still playing)
10. Hopgood
11. Kautoga
12. Tuilagi
13. Doorey
14. Tuivaiti
15. (JAC ribs but still playing)
16. Ryan Matterson
17. Jake Tago
18. Richie Penisini

MW, Kaloamantangi will be 28 to start 2027 season, 32 to start the last season of his 5 year deal.
Junior Paulo is currently 32 & on 950k (?) per year?
Kaeon mightn't be worth 1mil for 5 seasons, but a players worth is dictated by a teams requirements. The Eels desperately need a genuine starting front rower so Paulo can shift to the bench.
As a club we define Kaeon as too expensive, too many years, ok, but who is the alternative we are chasing to fill that gaping hole in this squad? There's not a lot available.
As LB mentioned, if there is any hope Su'a can convince Kaeon to flip and come to the Eels, a lot changes instantly - in isolation, that one deal may have risk, but prioritising on field success is good business. Whereas, hoping players become available through off-field issues, or breakdowns with their current club, is definitely not good business.
Can we work the phones to get Su'A here tomorrow? I mean only one player but it helps.
they were looking to offload Blake Lawrie as well right.
providing we have a spot, would offering to take Lawrie of their hands (being a middle) potentially allow / encourage Su'A to be released early? hes only contracted by Dragons for 2026 so no necessilary a huge benefit for them.
Lol if we take Lawrie we might as well tell them we will swap JR and Moses for the Flanagns lol
I like Sua but can we please have a moratorium on chasing fucking Dragons?
But are St Goerge in a position to let 2 go?
in a better position then we are currently and they possibly have some younger players which could be promoted to full time.
Blake Lawrie would only be a stop gap measure, i acknowledge low hanging fruit isnt the best answer though.
I honestly think this puts it all in perspective. Thanks super . To all those saying sack this one and that one and genuinely sticking the boot in take a step back and put yourselfs in their shoes . How do you recon all the team and staff are feeling. Im dam sure they don't like what's happening either. Just my humble opinion
Come on Bobbie, that would spoil the bloodlust.....this is where IEE shines in moments like these....talk about kicking someone while their down.......back to the barn door and a roll in the Hay Bobbie......how dare you talk sense when thethere is a perfectly good hanging to take place......poor old MON, the poor bastard has been hung so many times, he could be turned into a "mummy".
With tongue in cheek we might have to get a club statement on injuries within the R@R dept, and add that to the list as well. They seem to be performing under par for quite some time.
