- After the first minute of the game I immediately knew that no matter how good we try to play that we would not win the game. The corruption was pretty clear. But wow we played awful.
- The sin bin was obviously a horrible decison by the ref
- The captain challenge was another horrible decison by the ref
- The number of 6 agains on 4th and 5th tackle just because Grant asked the ref for it was BS.
- Iongi getting a high tackle and than a crusher but not getting a penalty for it. Than being sent for the HIA was BS too.
- We lost control of the ruck because we would get pinged for a 6 again the moment we held on for a second. What were the eels meant to do. Two different games were beign reffed. Storm are the one team you CANNOT give loads of possession and a quick ruck too. We have zero match fitness since round 1, so that spine, our errors and refs but it impossible to defend under fatigue. We played 60min with 12 men too.
- Now enough complaining about the ref.
- Kelly and Penisni still cant defend 1 on 1 tackles consistently.
- Pezet is overrated. He is not a 6 and looked good at Storm in theri system. He is slow and a poor defender.
- Da Silva is a reserve grader. 1 year into a 4 year contract and I may have already given up on him. His service is putrid. He cannot control a ruck even though he didnt miss a tackle. His decison making is poor.
- Smith had the worst game of his career. Errors, missed tackle, etc. Really hope this was a one off
- Our bench rotation was completely fucked up because of the Iongi HIA. Our bench was a fullback (Papalii), hooker (TDS) and 2 small forward in Doorey and Walker. They had no chance in competing with Storms elite spine and big forward pack once they got a roll on (plus refs help).
No one is saying we played a great game or were not poor with our handing. We hurt oursleves for sure. But apply all the context. Refs fucking over from the start. The bench we had to use cause of the HIA BS. The countless 6 agains. Try to control the ruck and get pinged. Versing the best spine in the comp with all of that is impossible even if we completed well the refs wouldnt let us win I am certain of it.

The nrl are more corrupted than what I thought they were.
Our middles are marshmallows with pea hearts 💕. Doorey was the only one that bent the line. Hoppy defended well but gave away a silly penalty.

This game is more like touch footy than it's ever been. If you're gassed and the other side isn't you'll get pumped. That's precisely what happened last night. When you're struggling to breathe after defending 20 tackles in a row you can do nothing with the ball except make errors and repeat the cycle. It was tough to watch. I agree with everything EA pointed out.

Basically mate, that 6 more Bs rule has taken any reward away from winning a tackle or getting some control in the ruck. You will see in big games they will just let the players decide it but if they start calling 6 more every set for one team you get what happened last night. Basically fatigue and Harry Grant running untouched
Having Hopgood in the bin early in the game set the tone to be honest. Yes we scored during that time, but a couple of critical errors shortly after that gave Melbourne possession in our own half. We didn't have the defenders to spread wide and ultimately they hit back a couple of times. Defending during that stint gassed us. Add to that the fact that we were forced to use a back on the bench in lieu of a forward meant that our forward rotation was severely compromised.
The best thing for the players to do is to put this game behind them and focus on the little things that went wrong that we could have done better at. Next week won't be any easier in Brisbane, so it will definitely be a tough opening month for Parra. Do we have the mental fortitude to come back from 1 / 4?
We also looked quite underdone and not ready to play NRL. That is on the coaching staff and frankly not good enough.

Six against and sin bins are death in this current game. Regardless of all other factors if you can't stay disciplined you will get pumped.
From around the 45th minute to the 72nd minute Storm completed 17 sets to our 3 sets.
The score went from 18-4 to 46-4 in the 66th. Then Simmo was sin-binned.
It's a minor miracle only 6 points were conceded in the last 14 minutes with 12 men.
Worst loss since in seven years. Since the 64-10 loss to the Storm in 2019. That's seven straight losses to them and plenty of hidings.

We are going to have to be pretty much faultless tonight there's a reason Melbourne have won 23 in a row they just don't beat themselves and they'll be betting favourites without a doubt.
We have to win all the effort areas there workers can't outwork ours as if they do there stars will tear us apart.it's those 8-9 guys that do all the donkey work that'll win this game.I've said this forever but we have to at least equal there middle 1/3 keep a way from one out footy unless we are on the front foot and keep moving there middles around which we are built for.If we get any possession advantage get our backrowers working over Munster and Hughes and test Fa'alongo under the high ball I suspect there's a mistake or 3 under pressure to be had there.
We have to have alot go right for us to get a result here and it's the worst game you can get first up in the nrl without a doubt.If I'm honest I don't care what it looks like to get a win here.
It was obvious from the beginning of the game that it had a resemblance of the Dogs and Saints , somehow the influence of the rererees must be lowered ,six again is killing our game .

one thing I'd like to know is there anywhere a match count of six agains is shown in stats. Coz honestly felt like they could have set a record last night.
Leadership lacked severely when we needed it, it was nowhere when we desperately needed direction. Seriously looked like a team thst had never even met each other. As Ryles admitted in presser (to his credit), he will need to review his coaching preparation, which clearly was not right.
