Subtle dig at the rules committee?

During the press conference yesterday, question was asked about the high tackle on Moses. Moses went on to say that they were basically the rules, then Ryles jumped in and added 'We don't make the rules, just play by them, just tell us what they're as early as you can so we can make the most of them.

Slight dig at the NRL? Did anything change in regards to the rules from preseason to the start of Round 1? Looked like there was something else meant in his comments.

  • No dig at the cows whinging about it in thier press conference..

  • Id give Paton his dues .He did say that wasn't the reason they lost he did say he was pissed off with the amount of ball his side turned over and in general the silly mistakes they made and gave the ball back to the Eels asnd as Ryles said that's the rules with getting hit in the head

    • Bobbie, that is because you are fair man....its nice rhetoric to say the cows were whinging but the reality is they weren't as you pointed out.

We have a bad habit of crying out "poor me" with a lot on this site, but they get in quick enough to rip a player if he makes a mistake.

  • Ryles has made this comment before. It was clear the ruck interpretation changed from the pre season trials to round 1 in Australia. Even Vegas had the old interpretation of ruck speed

  • Our line ball pass was called back. Their line ball pass on our try line was a try to them. So again, close calls we don't get them often.

  • Honestly regardless of the Moses head shot.  There was a penalty to Parra right in front for Luki pulling a Parra player back to the ground when he was trying for a quick play the ball.

  • Seems like Ryles is now more on the front foot when it comes to referees and getting a fair slice of the pie. Its like he's telling everyone his apprenticeship is over, and he's ready to go beast mode

  • Cannot beleive how much media attention that swinging arm to Mitch is coping. This is after Stephen Crichton deliberately tacked a fkn referee. Players are suspended for touching a ref, let alone tackling them on purpose to stop a try.

    • Burton stayed down the other week to get a penalty and nobody really blinked an eye which is a ruling based on his dishonest acting . We lost the game due to it .  Moses bounces straight up and asks the refs to make a decision based on the rules with no dishonesty involved. Rules are , he was hit high, very fucking late and it's a penalty.  Simple.

In saying that , Mitch has kinda made a rod for his own back with the hand waving and carrying on and now has a stigma whether it be deserved or not.  No different to the Cam Smith referee thing he earnt.

But yes, Mitch is being unfairly called out here if you go by recent examples of other players.
