  • And by the way, that's what we need from a 5/8. Kenny's pace was incredible.
  • Great support player and always happened to be at the right place at the right time. Probably gave over 50 try assists to the Guru.

Steve Ella is loved by all league fans and he was always humble and down to earth.

Monumental in getting back to play rep football after career threatening injuries.

    I salute you Steve.

    • He was certainly a very talented footballer. It's amazing to think that he had actually lost some pace through that injury. I remember being quite upset when he finally succumbed to the shoulder injury. In fact if Zip, Kenny and Sterlo stayed fit together during the late 80s there might have been another wave of great players coming through to be mentored by these greats.

  • The 'Zip-Zip' man! Stoked I got to watch him through the 80's (showing my age there). Loved how he straightened the attack and hit the holes at full tilt. And how good is Brett Kenny? Speed, footwork and incredible vision. Probably one of the greatest to have laced on a boot.

    • It's a crime he's not an immortal.

It really is. Brett Kenny was the Master of making something out of nothing. Numerous match winning performances in Finals and Grand finals. Like, how good was when he flat footed a dragon and then drew in another 3 whilst standing in the tackle to put the Guru in the corner in the '86 final with 2 minutes to go.

Rabbs is still screaming in my ear "Parramatta's got out of jail!!! The Eels are out of jail!!!". The scene of the Parra fans on the Hill jumping up and down brings shivers down my spine.

Things of  fairy tales and folklore.

  • Would have made an amazing modern day fullback.

So humble, talented and a fantastic team man.

  • Can hit a hole!

    • That does ring a bell. It could have been Mark around the time he announced his early retirement.
