It hasn't been smooth sailing for the Eels this year, but things got really rough last night following their 50-nil thrashing by the Roosters.
Former Eels legend Peter Sterling told Triple M's Rush Hour Parramatta were just blown away by a team that was too good. However, while he admitted the effort was there, Sterlo identified areas of concern for the Eels.
Recruitment
"The Parramatta club is paying the penalty for poor recruiting for a long period of time. The salary cap… it bites… and if you don't spend wisely on the right players you pay the penalty and we (the Eels) haven't done that for a while," said Sterlo.
"Recruitment has to change but it's not going to change this season. They're going with what they've got and what they've got is not as strong as the majority of other clubs.
"Ricky Stuart has inherited this team and they have already started to plan for the future with some signings like Corey Norman and Will Hopoate, but this is a slow process."
Chris Sandow's Tackling Technique
"He's got to learn to tackle with his shoulder. Chris doesn't use his arms when he tackles and they're the most important appendages you've got when you tackle," he said.
"We know how well he runs the football but fifty per cent of the game is defence."

We didn't recruit anyone, we have a worse team than we did last year and it won the spoon. Blind Freddy could see we would be pushing shit up hill.
Lol.
