Sorry

Sorry mods, but there's something bigger than football thats about to hit, and it will be worse than the Covid crisis according to experts.

* These prices are now in NZ

* AU prices are rising daily  nudging 3.00 for diesel ⛽️  and 280 super unleaded.

* The government approved the release 20% of its reserve about  762 million litres of petrol and diesel from domestic emergency stockpiles. That’s equivalent to roughly 5 million barrels of fuel.   Thats only 9 days of fuel.

*Australia currently has fuel stocks roughly equivalent to about 30–36 days of petrol.

Food & groceries: Trucks transporting food and other essentials would halt, causing shortages in supermarkets and stores within days.

  • Prices: Expect sharp price spikes for remaining fuel and essential goods.

  • Emergency services: Ambulances, police, fire trucks could be limited if emergency fuel stocks aren’t available.Governments will advise

  • Goverments will tell us not to panic, prepare: Make sure you have enough essentials — water, non-perishable food, medications, and a bit of extra fuel if you drive long distances.

  • Avoid hoarding: Buy what you realistically need for 1–2 weeks; overbuying just worsens the situation for everyone.

  • This is all coming about because Iran has a stranglehold on the shipping lanes in which the US. Trump is asking other countries for assistance.
  • Its going to be like covid all over again.  Without fuel the country stops

  • What a sound idea shutting Australia's oil refineries down was. Not to mention the urea plants. We'll be right just import everything.

    • We are in the same boat here our government over the last 2-3 decades has pretty much sold off alot of key infrastructure to private business and all of that profit heads off overseas. We had a big refinery here in NZ Marsden point they closed that down the morons and now just pass the buck/pain on to the consumer alwhile stating the obvious overseas dramas but won't give you a tax break at the pump for the given time.

As our fuel price is made up of pretty much 44% of its total is taxed.

I'm a 5-6 mile a day Walker with the dog regardless so that doesn't change.

  • Try stopping everyone from stockpiling fuel, groceries etc. Everyone will look after themselves, the government won't help you.

    • The Government have stockpiles of food don't worry.  When did they ever give to f** about the average person?

  • Unleaded has always fluctuated a lot in price where I live,  anywhere from 159c/l to 217c/l. At the moment unleaded is 237c/l so nothing crazy. Diesel on the other hand which was always fairly stable in price has gone through the roof, jumped more than a dollar per litre.  In these uncertain times (I also mean with AI and the impact it will have on unemployment) it can't be understated how important it is to hold a significant amount of cash on hand to see you through.
