Stanley re-signs with Dragons

St George Illawarra utility Kyle Stanley looms as the long-term replacement for Darius Boyd in the Dragons No.1 jumper after re-signing with the NRL premiers for a further three years on Thursday.

With Boyd expected to follow departing coach Wayne Bennett at the end of the season, Stanley's retention was the final major piece in the puzzle for the Dragons, with the 20-year-old to stay in the red and white until the end of the 2014 season.

Stanley has been used predominately as an impact player off the bench at both hooker and in the halves in recent times, but a move to fullback is on the cards under new coach Steve Price in 2012.

"We'll just see what the outcome is with what everyone is doing next year, hopefully we can get that sorted in the next pre-season," Stanley said of his chances of nailing down a starting berth.

"It's a weight off my shoulders and it's good to have that settled -I'm happy that I'm staying at the club."

  • who cares!!!
  • Thanks for posting the link Fyno.
Stanley is the long-term fullback at the Dragons, given that Boyd seems likely to depart with Bennett.
  • A good signing for them I think.
  • agreed!! ^^
  • were we after this guy or something?
  • Rather get his brother Chase. I rate him a better player, would look good in the centres or on the wing.
  • Kyle Stanley is probably one of the best rookies that the Eels have yet again let go uncontested.
We have let Stanley and Williams re-sign with their respective clubs. If the Eels don't sign Duffie now our recruitment process will be less than pathetic.
  • that goes without saying

we let player after player go off the market
