St George Illawarra have landed a huge recruitment scalp by securing Australian star Keaon Koloamatangi to a long term near $5 million deal.

It is understood that Koloamatangi has told the Dragons he will join the club from 2027 on a five year deal. The contract is now in the cooling off period.

It is a clear circuit breaker for the Dragons who were in the market for a marquee player.

Koloamatangi’s current club South Sydney wanted to secure him as did Parramatta.

The Dragons though look set to land the prized recruit after gazumping the Eels and Rabbitohs with a monster five year deal

    • Ever consider the possibility that he went to Souths because he has mates from Souths there like Damien Cook and Gutho would have whispered in his ear about how Parra did the dirty on him. Nothing to do with Ryles and Flannagan in my opinion. More about 💰💰💰 and extra years deal and friends from Souths. There are currently 4 ex first grade souths players at the Dragons

      • Could well be but you've got both coaches putting a pitch to the player so I have to think that this is the issue the ability for the given to close the deal for the given club.

Much like the Galvin attempt Ryles is the one getting him over the line for some reason potentially as you mention we aren't getting it done.

        • I think Flannagan is more willing to give the extra year and the extra cash 💰 whereas Ryles is just a bit more using his brain 🧠 and isn't as desperate as Flannagan. I honestly don't think the Eels are really lacking forwards but more in need of a decent replacement for Lomax but there are decent younger players coming through in that area as well and if Kelly signs that is a good signing in my opinion.

    • Was it that Flanno would play him on an edge instead of middle?

  • Throw the money on Tino and bring his leadership to the young pack for fuck sales Ryles.

    • Tino is overrated

    • And cripple your cap? Then you would complain why we aren't getting other good players due to most of our cap being used on Tino.

      • Our cap we never be crippled because no one wants to stay or come.

        • What a dumb statement. What's the point of Tino if you believe nobody wants to stay?

To convince Tino you would need up to nearly $2mil. For a middle that is too much. You won't be able to extend or sign anybody else.

          • Maybe have a little faith in the ass holes that run the club

I know it's tough to get struck by lightening more than once, but that's exactly what it's going to take with the current tactics the club is employing."
