St George Illawarra have landed a huge recruitment scalp by securing Australian star Keaon Koloamatangi to a long term near $5 million deal.

It is understood that Koloamatangi has told the Dragons he will join the club from 2027 on a five year deal. The contract is now in the cooling off period.

It is a clear circuit breaker for the Dragons who were in the market for a marquee player.

Koloamatangi’s current club South Sydney wanted to secure him as did Parramatta.

The Dragons though look set to land the prized recruit after gazumping the Eels and Rabbitohs with a monster five year deal

  • Think this is it now. Mark O'Neil has got to go. He cannot close a big name signing to save his life.

Couldn't land Galvin, could land Pezet.. for 1yr & now looks like he's missed out on Keon.

What are we doing? Where do we go now, we've got the cap space there but but we just simply cannot land or close a big signing.

    • Not worth the huge risk of 5 years considering he still has 2026 at Souths.

    • Settle down, we offered 4yrs they offered more

  • Whilst the dragons flew Keon to Wollongong in a first class helicopter,  Mon ordered a Mazda 2 uber eats driver to lure him.to kellyville

    • Agreed Chief. Player development is a great approach, but we need signings sprinkled in to add the quality. At this point MON is setting Ryles up to fail.

      • As bad as this may sound MoN will just be a conjuit for recruitment the ace up the clubs sleeve is Jason Ryles he'll be the conductor of this orchestra. All MoN and the numb nut committee are there for is exactly that to facilitate moves.Players will come because of the coach. It's going to be a long hard slog this one and it's development of BUST.

    • I thought it was actually a Hyundai Getz rental  car and Keon footed the bill

    • The guy is seriously shit and if the club doesn't punt his arse the fans should demand it...

What have we become? Instead of a destination club, we are the last cab off the rank. Disgraceful.

      • We are the Last Cab and the cool kids are using Uber

      • They'll punt him much like the board after they've done there 9 year stints as per the constitution.Just like McElduff before them. You think Beech and co are going to fire MoN now the guys been bad for years and we are just realising this now 😂.
