St George Illawarra have landed a huge recruitment scalp by securing Australian star Keaon Koloamatangi to a long term near $5 million deal.

It is understood that Koloamatangi has told the Dragons he will join the club from 2027 on a five year deal. The contract is now in the cooling off period.

It is a clear circuit breaker for the Dragons who were in the market for a marquee player.

Koloamatangi’s current club South Sydney wanted to secure him as did Parramatta.

The Dragons though look set to land the prized recruit after gazumping the Eels and Rabbitohs with a monster five year deal

  • So what now? Who would we go after now and then miss out on them? What is this clubs priority?

    • Unsure but will have no effect on the 2026 season, opportunities will come up no doubt

    • This is what happens when a board don't have to face members or be elected, they have zero pressure on them to perform.

  • Yeah look no sugar coating it, this is embarrassing losing out to Dragons who never get anyone they go for. They still get someone over us.

Now was it the extra year and money? Perhaps but even Wests Tigers managed to get players like Luai, May and then could get Turuva. If we offered the same as Wests, we would still miss out.

We have a finished COE, Ryles looks the goods, an actually Halfback and money and still couldn't get deal done.

    • Probably do need to spend that on outside backs and a 5/8. Instead of Keon if the club is being realistic 😂

      • Well we have now focused on a 6 inside the club as apparent by Pezet giving them lessons and experience to develop despite his only 18 games himself, justifying the idiotic 1 year deal.

Plus Lomax was released happily due to him being on big money. So we are not signing overly quality backs and have none coming through at the moment.

    • LB look at Jim Sarantonis and the fact he has failed to turn Parramatta into a attractive destination and the fact  in 6 years he has failed to attract business people who are willing and able to help the club with R&R .

      • I'd actually take Spags back right now. And that's saying something.  I hate the dishonest crooked little slime ball.

  • Bring in Richardson
