I was reading an article recently I can't find the link about the effects of bring a fan and how it impacts other aspects of life.
It got me to thinking about us Parra fans no other team dissapoints like parra my question to the group is do you think the performance of the team transfer into your daily life?
I now I used to let a loss ruin my next day not as I've got older but in the past a Friday night loss could ruin my weekend.
This year things have been different once our season ended I switched off from footy all together I have watched very little of it something about this season just broke me as a fan I'll be back next year but for now I have zero interest.

read an article as well, thought this would suit a lot of us parra supporters as i feel we have been let down more than any other team quote from thriveworks "Sports depression is just like losing a job or a relationship: It’s something you’ve invested a lot of time in psychologically, emotionally and physically….It’s a grieving process. Essentially, it’s an entire area of the country going through grief together and simultaneously.”
In reality I don't think anyone should be so engrossed into supporting any team in a sporting code which allows that support to consume their lives to an extent where they become irrational, depressed, suicidal etc... if it gets to that point then the exit door should be the first sign to look for and then get professional help. Life is too short and there's so much more to enjoy than being succumbed to the Unrealistic expectations of any sport
Well said Coryn at the end of the day it's not worth it.
Nothing wrong with a bit of hardship in life, it builds character
Very true so long as it doesn't overwhelm you to the point of hurting yourself or others. If it gets that unbearable seek help as there's plenty out there if we look hard enough. No man/woman is an island. I've personally met people who on the outside appeared tough, happy and seemed to have it all together but we're far from it to the point of suicidal ideations.
I still let a loss get to me.... and I take it extra hard when the likes of Foran and Pricky that dogged us, get one over us. It's worse when it's a Thursday or Friday loss, it stuffs my weekends and into first couple of days at work
In saying that, never thought of doing anything stupid
yer, i hear ya, i hate losing thursday or friday night games.
Use the old reverse psychology.
Expect to lose and you can never be disappointed - only vindicated.
Lot's of people here that are not understanding its a "game" I go to bed after every game, satisfied if we win and pissed if we lose...... I wake up in the morning and its a new day and everything that happened yesterday cannot be changed.
Just move on and the fact that I have been following passionately Parra for 70 years I am not obsessed with winning a premiership like the desperates on here. We have won 4 and what I prefer to see is that Parra becomes the powerhouse it was always meant to be. Once that happens premierships will just come and we will be respected for what is our destiny is, to be the best......Rome was not built in a day and revolutions are cycles of life......try to learn something about optimism and remember that tomorrow is a new day......throw that philosophy on everything you do and you will not find yourself being the "bitter loser's" some of you have become.
This blog seems to create a forum where everyone can feel comfortable wallowing in their own misery....
