Saw the above game refereed by B Cummins who imo had a good game, let it flowed and cannot remember many penalties. I have recently written a blog critical of referees but when you have a good refereeing performance being fair to both teams the game is good to watch.

This week we'll have Cecchin and Perenara. It seems those 2 are refereeing the 7:30 Sydney games so far this season.
I think Cummins is a pretty poor ref, he has no common sense at all, has no confidence to make a call and is happy to pass the buck to the video refs at every opportunity. Watching his stop start refereeing is almost as bad as his inexplicit ruck penalties, which just leave you scratching your head, one out running and surrender tackles earning penalties? He also might think of buying a set square, you know, to keep the markers straight.
Yeah some can say that's because we lost and winners are grinners but the moment I found out that referees take pre emptive tip sheets into games - that killed my enthusiasm. The big problem is that most penalties are subjective and decided by one person who has a totally different view from the other referee.
At the end if the day, there is just too much money around to withstand the foul stench of odour that comes from these referees.
Add incompetence and the pace of the game and we are left with nothing but a rubbish product.
It might be in 10 years but it will happen.
You sound like a ref perhaps you should head on into an OPSM and get those eyes checked out. Its not just eels games they are ruining the comp with dud calls, incorrect decisions and only reffing one side.
The standard of the refereeing in the first few rounds has been nothing short of deplorable and to suggest otherwise suggests you haven't watched too many games.
Yes Parra were poor but not as poor as the pansies in pink. With 50/50 ball that game becomes a toss of the coin but thanks to the refs we had no chance after 8 muns and a 0-4 penalty count.
The most penalised teams in 2013 was the roosters, 2014 it was the bulldogs. Oh wait both them teams made the grand final in those respective years what does that tell you? Clearly it tells you you can give away penalties and still be good in defence.
It was clear as day on Saturday that the eels defence in the first 20 was some of the worst in the nrl, Hoffmans try was one of the softest this year and our marker defence is a disgrace
You know you get cynical as you get older !
