The Parramatta Eels are quietly looking to move winger Maika Sivo.
Currently on a deal worth around $550,000-a-season, Sivo has been a shadow of the player who took the NRL by storm when he debuted back in 2019.
We’ve heard the Cowboys are interested in trying to strike a deal to bring big Maika to Townsville but have virtually no wiggle room to move in the salary cap.
Sivo was axed to NSW Cup earlier this season before being sin binned against Manly for a brain snap.
The Eels flyer has still managed to score six tries in four games this season but with Zac Lomax arriving next year Parramatta are looking to buy themselves more room in the salary cap.

His not going to saints to play centre
Yeah don't see it happening, fullback is his at parra eventually. Dragons about to sign Sloan to an extension.
What makes you think he is one of the games most exciting talents?
Let's isolate his talent for a minute.....is he fast NO
Is his defence of a high standard NO
Does he demonstrate any high level skill NO
Is he particularly intuitive NO
Is he very strong and forceful with the ball in hand NO
Does he have potential .......YES for a second grader try to be a first grader.
Is he totally overated YES
I would swap him for any of the middle range wingers that are around if it meant getting Lomax early.
By the way everyone sees him as a fullback......we have a fullback already who is so far ahead of Tulagi its beyond a joke. Lomax would be the logical back up and if Tulagi went to St George he has bucklys chance of unseating Sloan, who in a race would put 5 metres on him over 20.
PLease Jack tell me why you disagree with that assesment. I am not denying his potential just the premature ejaculation that many are having over this kid. I know we are desperate, but lets broaden the horizon.
If you can't see the talent and I have to spell it out for you on here then sorry mate I can't help you, I'll let the kids footy do the talking over the next 2 years and then ill come back you when you make another negative post about someone else on here as per.
I very rarely, if ever, agree with what Poppa posts but in this case, he is 100% correct.
Tualagi hasn't shown anything to match all the hype.
He has a good step but he isn't particularly quick and his defence is atrocious.
I have watched him play fullback, centre and 5/8 and in each position, defensively he has been very average.
The contract extension he has been offered is about 100k per season to much.
If St George offered to release Lomax immediately in a swap deal for Talagi I would say hell yes.
I think you mean talagi
How can you and poppa call his defence atrodcious when he twice stopped Cobbo dead still in his track. Yes it's not perfect but if you cannot see his potential, I am sorry but your fucking blind
I'd only release Sivo if they can bring in a finisher with better backfield numbers. Otherwise I'd hang onto him for one more year with a better backline featuring lomax and Moses back he may have a field day. But if you can get a genuine try scorer with better numbers fine do it.
Agree I personally wouldn't be getting rid of him due to his strike rate. The powers that be want to get rid of him. Plenty of players that can metres out of the backfield.
Anyone available to drive Sivo up to the Cowboys asap?
