Sivo

Apparently eels players were not happy with Sivo's peformance against Panthers. I wish the article provided more detail about the spray and Sivo's reaction because it is well overdue. This whole year he has been half of the player he was last year.

  • Would you mind posting the article so we can all read it?

    • Can you not see it?

      • Unfortunately not. Please share, keep the Eels spirit high.

  • Don’t be a lazy Kent, post the actual article otherwise everyone loses one of their free ten smh articles because you’re a lazy, fat, blue vein templed jar of clit sweat.

  • It's obvious teams are lining up on Sivo but the poor bloke is not getting a lot of help.

Last year Gutherson was positioning Sivo on runs, bringing him back on the inside or putting him on the outside. It led to several clean line breaks and try or try assists.

This year he is just being used one out as a bartering ram.

  • Parramatta winger Maika Sivo is experiencing the first form slump of his career and did not respond well to on-field criticism levelled at him by several Eels last weekend.

Some Penrith players noticed the Fijian's head drop when he was given a spray by his frustrated teammates as they struggled for possession in their 20-2 loss to the Panthers.

Peter Sterling has broken down Eels issues involving key players Blake Ferguson, Mitchell Moses and Jai Field.

Sivo returns to his favourite Bankwest Stadium on Friday night where he has bagged an amazing 22 tries in just 21 games at the western Sydney venue.

Eels fans will be hoping for a cricket score against the Broncos to all but sew up a top four spot, with Brisbane looking even worse on paper than they did when blown off the park 58-0 in week one of the finals at Bankwest last year.

Rivals teams have made a point of trying to shut down Sivo and fellow winger Blake Ferguson early given their ability to get the Eels on the front foot to start their sets.

Ferguson in particular is dynamite with kick returns, which has seen opposing sides kick to Sivo much more of late. And in a sign Sivo's confidence is well down, he looked shaky under the high ball on a few occasions against the Panthers.

In the past couple of months alone, Sivo has run for less than 70 metres on three separate occasions. However, on one of those occasions Parramatta played in monsoonal conditions against Cronulla while they were starved of possession during the loss against the Panthers.

Sivo averaged almost 150 metres a game last season.

After 11 tries in the opening 11 games, Sivo has also crossed the paint just twice in the past seven rounds.

The entire Eels' backline has struggled and will be hoping to build some confidence against the Broncos.

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur said on Thursday the immediate focus was trying to get the two points against Brisbane and cementing the all-important top-four spot.

"We're not exactly we're we want to be, but the good thing is we have a couple of weeks to try and consolidate that top-four spot, and from there we'll worry about what's after that," Arthur said.

"Over the last couple of weeks our possession rate has been poor, we haven't built any pressure, we haven't played the style of footy we've wanted to play, that's disappointing and that's what we need to get back to."

The Eels roared out of the blocks when the competition re-launched after the COVID-19 enforced hiatus, with their first game back a 34-6 bash-up of the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

Meanwhile, Brisbane players have been encouraged to enjoy a rare Friday morning off by having breakfast with family or even squeezing in a round of golf before their 1.30pm flight to Sydney.

The end to the Broncos' season cannot come quick enoughfor the embattled side, but sadly the players will be required to remain in quarantine for an extra eight days after their final game against North Queensland next Thursday night.

Queensland government protocols require all people who travel to NSW to remain in strict quarantine for 14 days, meaning the Broncos will have to endure the NRL "bubble" for an extra week before escaping and trying to forget the club's worst-ever campaign.

    • Thanks for posting Captain.  Sivo's issues have been discussed ad nauseam on this site so no need for me to comment any further.

I find it interesting that there's a suggestion in the article that some Broncos might be playing golf before catching a flight to Sydney. That would make a very long day.

      • They were also out til 2am playing the pokies last night...

  • I, like many supporters were hoping he would be the next Semi! I think therein lies a lot of the disappointment. He is not in the same class let alone league as Semi. If he was I doubt the Panthers would’ve let him go. Akin to Ravalawa for the dragons, sometimes is actually made to look better than he is.
