I woke up this morning to the headline ‘Price lashes out at former Eels pack mate as tensions over club poll rise’ in the Sydney Morning Herald.
It’s a little disappointing but Ray’s always been outspoken. He’s entitled to his view but I believe that ParraFirst has run a really positive campaign, focusing on the issues we believe are important and the last thing I want to do is get into a public spat with any former teammate.
Indeed, I wish Ray and Eric Grothe Snr and Jnr the very best of luck on Saturday as I’ve known them all for a very long time.
I do want to make one thing clear about the comment that we’re supposedly “solely interested in getting their hands on the NRL side''.
What ParraFirst is interested in, is getting MEMBER’S hands on the NRL side. I think it is going to shock many members who will be voting for the first time, that this election isn’t actually about the NRL team. All ParraFirst are asking for is that the current constitution and club structure be reviewed because it’s now close on thirty years old and it’s not how any of the successful NRL sides operate anymore.
The NRL has rightly taken a member-first approach to growing our game and our constitution needs to keep pace with that so members get a say in who is looking over their beloved Eels.
And Ray only need read the 'Our Vision' statement on the ParraFirst website to see that putting in place a public strategic plan for our juniors and district competition was always one of the three core planks that we have been campaigning on, the others being boardroom professionalism as well as the constitutional review. It’s why we were very careful to ensure we had some of the very best junior footy people around the club and the district either run on the ticket or contribute their ideas as part of our broader group.
ParraFirst has been a very considered and deliberate team effort, we’ve been careful not to overpromise yet still deliver a vision, we’ve been open and transparent and we believe we’ve represented ourselves and club professionally and ethically. That’s the approach we aim to carry into the Parramatta boardrooms if we’re successful on Saturday.
I wish everyone who has put their hands up to contribute to our club as a candidate the very best and I hope to meet so many of you at the Leagues Club on Saturday.
Good to see Sharp addressing this issue.

That would be weird considering Sharp played alongside Price.
power trips on both sides
How do you figure that they are worried about their pockets? It was going to get somewhat nasty, it's politics.
everyone who wants to run for board just like polys think only of themselves and there pockets
Sharp scored the first first grade try on parra stadium back in rd 1 1986 v Dragons, that why i'll never forget him, plus that awesome Mo he had.
He's still got a mo.
Yep..before Porno Mo's were Cool
not as good as his '80's one.
must be pretty stupid if they don't know about Steve Sharp, one of the best second rowers in the 80s Eels team...and they call themselves Eels fans?
