Not sure if this has been discussed already but clubs have been give a speculative restart date in September, with the GF planned for December 20th. So apparently the season starts new so our two wins mean diddly, then there is 13 games and a final series. This could be wrong but if there is not at least 16 rounds ie everyone plays each other once then surely a few team are advantaged by not playing Roosters and Storm. What teams would suit a short season. On past history St George could win it . Would it suit Parra ? Probably if we could stay injury free would be the key.anyway catch you in September.

I think September is the last possible date for the season not to be scrapped. The earliest is 1st June.
I would imagine that 13 games allows the first two to be included to make 15 total - everyone plays everyone once
Unless there's a vaccine which the experts are saying might take a year there's not going to be any nrl.
NRL management are fukwits of the highest order.
There will be no 2020 competition in any large scale sport.
Add to this stupid the idea, players will be out there in 30+ degree heat for 2 - 3 moths if they do start in September.
I have to agree with Mushie. WE are yet to reach the ' peak ' season of this pandemic with winter approaching. I cant see this season being played at all. Plan for 2021 and whatever that brings with it. Whilst I love my horse racing and punting, I am amazed that industry remains operating. Yes no crowds, but the amount of people from all walks of life involved in getting that animal on the track is huge. Watch the bank balances dwindle when there is nothing but horse, greyhound and trots to watch and punt on. Me included.
I agree Pops, the NRL should be looking at a whole comp quarantine solution just because no one else has done it doesn't mean we can't.
The NRL were too stupid to look at this seriously enough if they wanted to still have a full season.

The other aspect is the number of people involved - I loosely estimated no less than 1000 people over the 16 teams - that in itself is a small township with the inherent problems of infection still occurring.
[Edit] that did not include catering staff so add a couple of hundred more.
Racing industry will implode before long, just like all the other sports or entertainment.
The Warriors situation surely complicates any season re-launch?
For instance, imagine that the peak of the infection curve is May-June some time, which virologists are saying is likely if social distancing and lockdown works. So let’s further imagine the lockdown is progressively relaxed at that point or a month after. Say, June-July re-launch.
But what to do with the Warriors? One only has to turn to the unfolding debacle in the US to know that it is highly likely international travel is going to remain banned for some time. Probably past June-July.
So, a reduced-teams competition? Or Warriors fly over and self-isolate and remain? If not, does the comp restart and exclude the first two rounds, or not bother because the Warriors lost anyway? Or, pooled games, NSW and QLD, with the outliers thrown in somehow.
Also, I think it will be unlikely to see major sporting teams allow3d to reconvene without bio security measures in place, so we can probably expect player lockdowns and maybe no fans?
So many questions!
I’ve missed the sports news for a few days but are players when interviewed doing so from what appears isolation? If so that would suggest the NRL has instructed lockdown to enable the game to move fast if social lockdown is relaxed.
