Sean Russell

For all the positives around the development of individuals and the team this year .. if this bloke plays more than about 3 games for us next year it will be another long season .
Not a first grader , makes the same poor reads every week in defence , doesn't know he has a Ferrari outside him and can't even do his simple jobs well. He should be a stop gap player at best not a week to week regular.
He has no idea how to execute the basic parts of the game let alone take half chances . Very very average player .

      • For sure, Mick.

Easy from our position, I know.

One thing we do know is Ryles impact on some of these young guys is very positive.

        Especially defensively.

        • Agree NOS, broncos attack is generally slik and potent with speed across the park -  they have strike and big strong backs like stagg, so the baby Eels keeping the donkeys to 20 points and winning is win win

  • Is this a Callum park reunion?

  • Let's see how he goes next week, maybe the five eight was the problem 🤔

  • He was very physical last night and owned Staggs. The bloke on here that people wanted to pay over 1 million for. His try was unbelievable.  His been on an upward trajectory this year under JR especially in defence. Still needs to learn to free ado carr. If Russell has improved this much under JR imagine how much other players will improve namely the 5/8 candidates.  Happy for him seems like a team man.

    • We don't need a flash attacking centre, JAC and Kaotonga are weapons for attack on the left but it depends on who we get at 5/8.

Defence is where we are struggling and Russell defence has definitely improved along side JAC.  If we could get a game breaking centre it would be great but I think Russell is doing his job on small wage.  We better off replacing Pensini who's defence has been poor.  Pensini would also be on lot more than Russell and I think Russell is kind of cheap player you need to carry to spend big elsewhere.

We are better off using money on quality prop and right side centre and a 5/8

      • Good observations midget. If u look at the storm system they don't over spend in the centres. JR probably sees Russell in this category. His defence has improved remarkably under JR . His d previously was diabolical. We really need a quality middle alpha male type aka Tino.

  • Was a great game from Russell last night. Staggs was getting frustrated by Sean man handling him.

Hope that game gives him more confidence in his attacking ability, his pass for Foxes try was crisp.

He has improved his defence, and added a little bit of aggression to his tackles.

    Well done Sean Russell.
