After previous reports indicated that Luke Garner was on the verge of signing elsewhere for 2026, the Penrith Panthers have made it clear that he will see out the remainder of his contract.

Currently signed until the end of 2026, Garner was previously granted permission by the club to explore his options elsewhere as early as June and found himself attracting the interest from the Parramatta Eels, St George Illawarra Dragons, and the Manly Sea Eagles

However, the club's CEO, Matt Cameron and coach Ivan Cleary have made it clear that the premiership-winner will not be let go early and have come to a mutual agreement.

  • We should of sign him would of only payed some of he contract for 1 year who know panthers probably got piss off with him and let him go early

    • When you say we shoud have signed him Arnie, It is now semantic as Penrith are not releasing him......nothing we could have done or can do without their approval.

  • Pretty shit of them to tell him he can explore his options and then pull back on it .  As a player I'd be pretty disappointed I'm that disposable .

Then again , maybe he saw he only attracted interest from us and Saints and begged them to publicly state he can't leave .

"Both are extended til 2027. Fletcher seems to be really impressing in pre-season, similar to what Smith did last year. Not saying he gets near FG but he could play Cup earlier than expected maybe."

"They were getting too old for Flegg and we have much better for NSW Cup. I would've kept one of Lewis/De Straddis as they are versatile, but they would have started in Ron Massey so can't blame them going for a better offer. "
