"Gutho is going to have to get some scans tomorrow, but we don't think it's great. I am not sure exactly what the diagnosis is but it could be bad." Arthur on Gutherson.See the full post match press conference with Brad Arthur and Tim Mannah who spoke after the clash: http://eels.co/2uUV1Zt

  • Well ain't that a bitch
  • Hw wasn't in a knee brace after the game which is a good sign.

    I think 2-4
  • Parramatta’s bid to reach the finals for the first time since 2009 has taken a huge body blow, with fullback Clint Gutherson suffering a possible season-ending knee injury,

The Eels No. 1 limped from ANZ Stadium late in the one-point win over the Tigers on Sunday after twisting awkwardly in a tackle following a long break.

With just six weeks of the regular season remaining, Parramatta coach Brad Arthur fears his fullback may have played his last game for 2017.

“He’ll have some scans tomorrow but we don’t think it’s great,” Arthur said.

“I’m not sure exactly what the diagnosis is but it could be bad.

“Footy’s a tough game and it’s not always fair.

“And he’s one bloke that’s it’s not fair if he has to be out for an extended period

“He’s been great . He helped put us in a position that we’re in.”

Arthur is fortunate that he has a ready-made replacement in Bevan French, who will move from wing to fullback to cover for Gutherson.

Arthur said: “Long-term Bev will be a fullback but Gutho was in really good form and Bevan was finding it hard to get that spot.

“Bevo can slot straight in there.”

The win over the Tigers moves Parramatta into seventh spot on the table ahead what looms as a vital clash with second-placed Brisbane.
  • Guth gone and there goes our season.

We were bad enough with him today.

  • "It’s hard to say exactly how long MCL sprains need to heal, but a few factors affect the recovery timeline. A mild Grade I sprain might take anywhere from two to six weeks to recover, while a Grade III sprain or complete rupture of the MCL could take months of dedicated rehab. And while a total rupture don’t necessarily require surgery—the choice generally depends on how unstable the knee is—any athlete who wants to get back in the game at full force typically opts for a surgical repair".
It really depends on what Grade Sprain Gutho is diagnosed with but even with a Grade 1 it can take weeks minimum. Did this injury occur when he was tackled or whilst running?
  • Injury was whilst being tackled after a 30mtr run...
    I'm guessing 6wks minimum
  • Funnily enough no matter how bad it gets this season we've been able to find a way to make it into the 8 .
  • If you watch him mid way through the 2nd half he ahadows a tigers kick over the deadball line and gets a push. It looked like he strained it there and then made it worse later
  • Let's just see what the results are. Hope it's not bad.
  • Norman goes to fullback
    Who goes to six?
