Young Eels playmaker Jaeman Salmon convicted of low-range drink driving after horror car crash
Parramatta playmaker Jaeman Salmon has been convicted of low-range drink driving following a horror car crash last October.
According to a report by the St George Shire Standard, Salmon was also fined $1500 and disqualified from driving for six months when he fronted Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
The 20-year-old told police he was checking his phone when his Jeep Cherokee crossed onto the wrong side of the road, hit three parked cars before flipping onto its roof stopping traffic in Miranda in Sydney’s south on the morning of October 13.
The young Eel, a green P-plater, was taken to hospital following the accident with head injuries and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.068.
Salmon’s solicitor Warwick Korn said his client was “very scared and contrite” and that the incident “has moved him to publicly and sincerely apologise to the court and the local community.”
He made his NRL debut with the blue and golds in Round 21 and went on to feature in five games.
The Eels are yet to issue a statement following the court case.

Who is it that imposes the penalty as far as missing games ?is it Parra or the nrl?
Firstly it's Parra, and then if the NRL believe the punishment isn't harsh enough, they can adjust the punishment.
I think this may have happened in Corey Norman's case?
Ingles lost the captaincy of his country.
Plus Ingles was speeding but no excuse for Salmon just got to take the punishment thats given to him and learn from his mistakes
I agree the inglis was worse but for the sake of ohr club i hope parra comes down hard on him. This behaviour needs to be stamped out sick of seeing parra name in the papers for the wrong reasons. These boys wont to be professional athletes there is responsibility that comes with it
At the time i had a go at the kid, said he must have been drinking or drugging to crash into 3 parked cars and flip his car at 9.30am in the morning, i copped heaps about it, many stated its an accident that could happen any where any time to anybody.
So it turns out he was on the piss at 9 in the morning coming down after a big night out, its not rocket science.
Definitely be missing for at least 2-4 games and slapped with a hefty fine.
Peni Terepo copped 3 games and was fined 15k for a similar incident in NZ. He refused to give an alcohol test to police after crashing his vehicle. Terepo also hid the news from Parramatta officials who later found out what happened.
Salmon will get 3 games imo
I feel the club has turned the corner by ousting players like Corey & Edwards who were supposed to be role models to the young players like Salmon, yet acted like party boys.
So a low range DUI and crashed into a couple of cars.
The bloke should be half hung, stretched and shot from the feet up.
Kids these days...
Parra do, by making him play for them
I think the NRL will no doubt attempt to set an example of this young fella especially given all the incredible 'off field' dramas in this 'off season'. Its been quite mind boggling with all the NRL players being in the news for all the wrong reasons. I think Salmon will be hooked in scaled and filleted with at least a 3 month ban and an extra fine.
