      • I should have elaborated more, what if he were to backflip on the broncos deal (if true) and asked to stay. Would parra offer him another deal?

        • Depends on how he is going I guess.

  • This is absolutely BS, this guy obviously tugging his mate to get Pezet to learn. So sick of this dumb club.

  • We want the best team on the field in 2026 to try and make finals as we need to continue to improve as a team.  Is Pezet a better 5/8 option then Joash for 2026, I think he is and he also provides us the best option if Moses gets injured or plays SOO.  Pezet can also play to a game plan set by Ryles.

If Lorenzo is to play in 2027 would Ryles want someone like Joash who is less predictable and play a different style with the left edge or someone who can start building the attacking shapes and organising the lines he wants the back rowers and centres to run.ready for smooth transition into Lorenzo for 2027.  Joash would mean changing the style 2 years in a row where Melbourne strength which I assume Ryles will copy to some degree is is consistency and players playing their role so anyone can step up.

The problem doesn't seem to be we signed Pezet, it is the 1 year length of people are upset over.  But if Lorenzo really is the best option for 2027 it makes perfect sense.

Whether Lorenzo is in the NRL squad by end of 2026 is not known but Ryles was upfront with Brown so assume Pezet and other players know the reasoning behind this.  Ryley Smith came from nowhere and development deal to a regular starter, so Lorenzo may be in the squad sooner then later and Pezet would make that transition easier if Lorenzo needs to be rested for games than Joash.

The only issue I see is we have to try and offload either Hawkins or Volkman for Lorenzo to get regular game time in cup.

  • Something I feel like people aren't fully taking into account when suggesting to throw Joash or Lorenzo into the deep end next season, is that while yes, they'd start to get their reps in and improve as halves, they'd slow the development of the players around them, players like kautoga, and guymer need reps with a genuine halves combination, same with talyn, we saw how last year his decision making wasn't up to scratch, how much worse is that going to be with a 5/8th that's still learning how to communicate with their hooker at the top level?

We should not be going into 2026 thinking that it's already a wash of a season; we need to make a push for the 8, get our young players' confidence up through good performances, and give them a taste of finals footy. Each year needs to be incremental growth. Do I think that Pezet is going to deliver us a premiership next year? Of course not, but maybe he gives us that extra bit of cohesion we need to be a better side, and keep on improving

    • Still doesn't help us as he's off at the end of the year and it's start again after he leaves nd Kautonga and alike have to start up the combo with a new half.Top 8 matters not next year id prefer we stick with Jaoash because there's already a combination there and take our lumps at least we don't have to start again potentially in 27.

Every way you look at this there is nothing beneficial coming out with this move.

New combinations on the left side we've been at this rubbish since 2022 that's the last time we've had consistent selection on that side.Pezet there for a year and out and back to the same old rubbish.

      • Spot on Coryn.

Usually when the the Eels sign someone the dollars are front and centre in the Headline.

Is it just me or does it seem the media narrative around this signing today is trying to smooth over Parra fans ,makes it all seem a little off.

The fact news limited Broncos are part of the equation might have something to do with it .

usually the rugby league media run interference on the Eels and love to stick the boot in, not today their out there advocating hard for Ryles and co .

        Something stinks.

        • Some of the journalists are mates of anasta's, maybe he is worried the deal will be scuttled if the eels cave to the massive fan backlash.

  • People seem to forget Harry Grant and the Tigers....same situation potentially here ....give him great exposure and get him ready for the Broncos the premiers too....I cant understand this move ...further as Coryn stated how does the combinations improve in 27 with the guy pissing off .....SMH

  • Braith just confirmed on his podcast that we wanted a long term deal but were beaten by Brisbane late for his signature. So this whole narrative about a 1 year deal to allow our youngsters development is spin by the club to cover up another recruitment blunder
