Ryles confirms Pezet play

Michael Chammas is reporting, though not final, the deal is close. The reason for the deal is they only want Pezet for one year max to not block the path of their talent of the future. https://www.zerotackle.com/munster-reveals-contract-intention-ryles-confirms-pezet-play-228340/

Well it is hard as Joash more likely plays Fullback in Cup and with Hawkins and Volkman more likely the halves in Cup, where does Talataina get reps other than Flegg? Still do not agree with it but Ryles has a plan and all we can do is hope for the best. It is very weird but i wonder, just wonder if there is more to it here where we have a Brisbane player on our mind and this is a type of you can have him if you do this.

Not saying It is the case, tin foil hat theory.

But Ryles has a plan behind it, not saying i think it makes sense but let's see how it goes.

        • Well i did say he was passable and we can get by with him. But also we can see he is better suited to being a Fullback. But Papali'i did better than i thought he would, particularly in defence.

And let's be fair, if it is about a player of the future, it is Talataina. If Papali'i was our future 6 we would be playing him.

But also, just cause a player has attitude and pride in the jersey doesn't mean they are the best option for the team overall. They still need to be the best in the position.

        • No 20 year old is that smart..... someone was/is pulling the strings....it's not hard to go past his management. Even then it is still possible the kid himself doesn't want to come to Parra.....after all the opportunity was given for a term choice and it reflects on Parra not being chosen.....how does his Parra team mates see that?

Joash is on the sideline watching the game and cheering for the team he has loved since he was 5 years old and watching Pezet take his future opportunity for 12 months and who knows what else.

Think about it Ryles'y you may have  just fucked the morale of your whole development path/squad !!!!!

  • Ryles is hampered in the same way that BA was hampered.

You can only work with what you've got or can get. If Ryles has the choice between Pezet for 1 year or another year of having no half, I'm sure he's going to choose to have him for 1 year.

I guarantee that no coach in their right mind is turning down a proven first grader just so a potential junior doesn't have to fight for their position.

If Talataina is the goods then he'll fight his way into first grade. If Pezet outshines him then great, the better player won the place.

The more likely scenario is Ryles didn't have the choice because MON couldn't get the deal done, so it was either get Pezet for one year, or nothing. And now Ryles is having to make a story that tries to make this seem semi logical.

I feel bad for Ryles, he doesn't have the talent he needs in our Head of Football to succeed. Until we fix that he's always going to have to try and cobble together the best team he can with whatever scraps MON can gather him.

    • I disagree I don't think Pezet is a proven first grader , played a handful of games and injury prone. The one year gap only works with proven players to mentor or plug a gap and can do the job from day 1 not a rookie who won't hit the ground running and waste a year on him for another club whilst not giving reps to your own players

    • So who is the fcukwit that takes control and sacks Mark O'Neill and why hasn't it been done already? While I'm on it why the fuck is Sarantinos and O'Neill with Ryles in London?

      • The trouble with that mentality Analyst and a number of other people that are blaming the wrong people and looking to take it outside of the Ryles sphere.

If MON is as hopeless as you say, he would have been sacked. Everone knows that Ryles has the say in FG recruitment or even any player with the potential to do so.

Ryles made it very clear that retention and recruitment was the hardest part of his new role as a first grade coach in his podcast. He has fucked this one! Arguably he fucked Talagi and Galvin as well by supporting there retention/purchase and falling on his feet with their subsequent failures and Browns loss of form, I say Bullshit to Brown's effort's last year, he did not put in for what ever reason you can come up with....but he was terrible mostly.

There is no way MON or Saratinos would have come up with this brainstorm, it falls fairly and squarely on Ryles shoulders. MON is powerless and Saratinos for all his qualities as a CEO is between a rock and a hard place with this one. Ideally he would overule Ryles and say it is not in the interests of the club.......

see already this is potentially causing disharmony that we cannot afford!

  • I think its really a stupid idea to have Pezet for 1 year! I mean what the point!! Joash Papali was going really well and improving every week. It would be discouraging for Papali knowing that Ryles is signing Pezet for 1 year! What's he going to do with Papali ? Will he remain part of the 17 or go back to reserve grade? Doesn't make sense.

  • I'm with just about everyone else on here,it makes no sense to me. Minimal benefit to Parra, with the potential to create team disharmony. Broncos and Anasta are the big winners. The club needs a complete overhaul if those in charge can't  manage to get any big deals across the line. Surely we don't have cap restraints with all the players we have offloaded. So frustrating

  • At the end of the day or come first game of the season, without Pezet we have no 1st grade halves partner for Mitch fullstop. We just don't, we can pretend all we like that Joash was the answer, but he had only really played fullback. He now gets a chance to develop as a 5/8 if he/club wants.

    Its a win

    • Agreed fully. Why would we go i to a season knowing we are no chance of a Premiership, especially if we can make moves to improve our chances? Ryles has shown that he sees Volkman and Hawkins as backup halves, not regular topline halves. Adding to this, as others have said, Pezet is more of a half anyway. We need a plan for the future, and no doubt our juniors will get some development in the higher grades next year.
