He's a risky proposition but he's a Prop that could give us that Fear Factor.
We'd have to be considering him?
Then again he is an idiot by the sounds of it.
Maybe Manu Mau could be some type of mentor to him.
The NRL have left the door open for Russell Packer to return to rugby league as Wayne Bennett’s Brisbane Broncos up the ante in the battle for the jailed prop.
The Courier-Mail can reveal Brisbane’s recruitment committee, which includes club legend Darren Lockyer, has agreed to pursue Packer after talking with Bennett.
It is understood the forward, who is currently in Lithgow jail for a savage assault, would receive a basic 12-month deal worth around $100,000 a season.
The St George Illawarra Dragons and Penrith Panthers, whose coach Ivan Cleary mentored Packer at their former club the New Zealand Warriors, are both prepared to table more lucrative deals than the Broncos.

Really good player that we could probably pick up on the cheap, what he did was a low low act though. I suppose we gave Mau a second chance for something similar and look at how he has repaid the club???
Sweeties
I think the NRL should refuse to register his contract until he's shown some signs he has reformed. On the same basis I wouldn't want to see him playing for us at this stage.
iLL give a go
I don't want the grub anywhere near our footy club. Don't give me this "everyone deserves a second chance" BS. People have short memories. Indeed I doubt the NRL will allow a club to register him given the Carney & Ferguson precedents.
I don't give a rats, this is rugby league, I'd have Packer in heartbeat if meant strengthening our front row.
I'm not interested in moral brownie points, I want to to see the Eels win another comp before I die.
I'd be happy to sign Charles Mason if he could play.
