Just the one change to the side that stunned the Broncos. Prop J'maine Hopgood returns from suspension so Jack Williams slides to lock and Jack de Belin goes to the six-man bench for the clash with his former club.

Or maybe Ryles prefers to have a hard running Lock. But Williams played Lock a fair bit at Cronulla. But Paulo ball plays anyway in the middle so doesn't really matter.
Stats across Round 1-2 show DeBellin missing just one tackle per game from 40+ attempts. But few runs or passes. Let's grant that Tuilagi's excellent game against the Broncos probably forcing himself into the team.
Does DeBellin to the extended bench and Williams to lock suggest JR thinks he will get more out of Williams' 40 mins in the middle than Debellin's?
That is exactly what he is looking at. He saw that first 25 and as soon as our middles rotated we looked so much better. He wants that fast start and Williams he may feel gives us that better chance.
NSW cup play before the NRL team. Interestingly Papalii is listed at haflback in nsw cup. Moretti and Kelly are listed in nsw cup but Guymer is not listed. Richard Peninsi is not listed in any teamlist or injury report/.
Our cup bench is also 2 forward, an OB and a Hooker.
Guymer is that back-row 18th sitting there in case Tuilagi or Kautoga go down but Williams can move there too if needed.
I think we see Walker, Tuivaiti, Doorey and Da Silva as the rotation.
I suspect that Williams has been to lock to counter the lack of lateral defence that Pezet doesn' offer, Ryles has recognised the problem and this is immediate answer JDB offers little in cover, hence Williams. Don't be surprised to see JDB used given the structure of the game.....If it becomes a "gritty affair" St George'a only way to win, then JDB will be used.
They surprised with front row seats on the sideline for his bday. How nice of them.
I did kind of assume Debelin was brought in as more of a mentor role for the younger forwards. Probably good to have around training and just if you need a middle on occasion. Not shocked he's more an 18/19 guy. Moretti should also leap him soon and Guymer
I thought he was brought in to stiffen the middle of the ruck as he has fantastic tackling technique and when he's second man in he basically strangles and kills ruck speed.
Problem is in attack, he's mainly a ball distributor and not great in go forward. The new rules mean treasuring the ball more and gaining ground through the middle means Debelin's style may now be defunct.
Id like to see Moretti come in somewhere because he suits the tough go forward style
