Fullback Isaiah Iongi returns from an ankle injury suffered in Round 4 so Joash Papalii moves to five-eighth alongside Ronald Volkman, who takes over from Mitch Moses (hamstring). Forward Kitione Kautoga (knee) is also back on deck and Sam Tuivaiti is listed among the reserves as he looks to return from a shoulder injury. Skipper Junior Paulo is set to miss eight weeks of footy after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure for his right knee due to chronic injury. Jack Williams lines up at prop and will also captain the side in the absence of Moses and Paulo.

    • Dragons? He declined them before coming to us. Melbourne is realistic.

      • He did lb, But things can change very quickly. Ryles did say he listened to other people and rejected the dragons and regretted it. He lives local and lets be honest saints have a good young pack and just got drinkwater and metcalf and by the looks of it conner watson. Oh and keon is there to...a lot of upside for ryles compared to parra. Also they have daniel anderson on board.

        • Where did he say he regretted it? I saw an article saying he had no regrets at all declining St. George Illawarra.

He left them at the alter as they wouldn't let him have his own people in charge. Plus, yes they have good signings but are still a rabble like we are if he is to leave going to Melbourne is better if you are leaving a rabble.

He also said when the Eels job became available he would crawl through glass to get it. If Ryles is to leave, it would be for Melbourne. It makes sense career wise with them being really well resourced, Ponissi is still there, majority of the squad know who he is. Easy transition.

Though how often do you see coaches leave halfway through a deal? Only one i last remember was Hasler from Manly to Canterbury but that was Manly telling him to leave early anyway.

If Ryles provides an ultimatum i reckon there is a compromise of some sorts.

          • Some journo said it after bellamy stayed on as storm coach and parra became available. More or less he didn't want to miss out on this opportunity.i believe ryles did at first agree to coach saints but backed out thinking he would get the storm gig. Craig decided to stay on and the rest is history.

If i'm wrong pls correct me and will apologise in advance if i'm wrong.

            • Not sure if you are or not. All i know, based on information given, was that Ryles pulled out due to Dragons getting involved in who he hired as assistants and their say on recruitment. He also wanted a 5 year deal and they were only going to go with 3.

Decided to go back to Melbourne with Bellamy indecision in focus but also he had nowhere else to go as Sydney City, his place of work at the time, told him not to come back.

  • Oh wow. I wonder if Ryles is questioning his life choices yet.

Here's hoping Newcastle play very, very badly.

  • Pezet out with hammy injury. This has become a dud signing.

    • Great for the Storm, they freed up a bit of salary cap a year earlier than anticipated. And very nice of us to help the Broncos get their signing by bridging the contract for a year.

We are truly the nice guys of the NRL to help out two teams who are such underfunded battlers.

      • Melbourne wanted to keep him, hence the 2029 contract extension.

  • Remember saying round 13 we can restart with players coming back. Yet the injury list has 10 players and that doesn't include Matto.

"Hes a great coach with the worst roster and he still gets them up for games, he's beaten quality sides that some sides struggle to play. Give him a world class roster he'd be playing finals every year, but the front give him ron massey cup roster."

"Can we stop being so dramatic. Paulo has one year left at most he ain't going anywhere. I highly doubt Ryles leaves unless it is for Melbourne and even then unlikely to relocate. Fox wont go. Moses is the only one who could ask to get out.…"
