Ah - I was meaning to ask about him.
I had very high hopes for him - in fact was expecting him to be better than Gutho - but alas it appears the Parra curse has struck.
Maybe *NEXT YEAR*sigh
Was there with Kram and another mate. Great to see Wenty back winning on a sunny winter Sunday afternoon... complete with a cold can of VB! I thought Robbo was good (a class above) and Bureta showed ran well and also stood out.
While Robson will be a boon to the club in the short term, Twal is the key name there. After a slow start to the season, marred by somewhat by injury, he is now finding his feet against the men and is leading the way without a great deal of support in the pack.
There is definitely a chance for Twal to push for first grade honours in the near future (not this year mind you) and while he conforms to the toiler/worker archetype similar to the likes of Mannah, Wicks and Alvaro he does offer a key point of difference in his ability to play at the line.
Interestingly he ticks a few of the scouting profile checks for props that Melbourne love. Good height and length (190cm and the wing span that comes with it), great motor and deceptively good mobility. It is a prop model that I wouldn't be shocked to see our club start to gravitate to and I feel like it is starting to be employed in our juniors. Clubs are always desperate to latch onto the next blockbusting Warea-Hargreaves/Fifita type but a cadre of these taller and perhaps more consistent props can dominate the ruck for far longer stretches of play.
Interesting observations regarding Twal and the type of prop we are looking to cultivate Forty.
I thought Twal had one of the best games I have seen him play yesterday.
Cheers mate.
He is still on the light side isn't he 40/20? Would think he should be pressing for a prop spot next year, a genuine ball playing prop.
